Mr. Victor G. Young, Jr.

YOUNG, Mr. Victor, Jr. - Age 73, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Hurley Medical Center, Flint. Family hour 1:30 Friday, January 9, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with the funeral service at 2pm. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral 1:30pm Friday. Mr. Young will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may only be viewed from 1:30pm-2pm Friday during the family hour. Mr. Victor George Young, Jr. was born August 28, 1941 in Harlem, NY, The son of Victor George Young Sr. and Sarah Newton Young. He lived in Harlem until he graduated from East Harlem High School in 1959. In 1960, he moved to Indiana where he worked in a factory until he later moved to Flint, MI in 1967. He then began working in the Foundry for Buick Motor Company in 1967 where he worked for many years until he began working as a laborer for the Coca Cola Company. In 1977 he began doing one of the things he loved, driving a bus for the Flint City Schools. His final job before retiring was driving a bus for the Saginaw Transit Authority. In January 1976 he met and fell in love with Anelia Mcneil; they later married on August 29, 1987. He was a loving and selfless man, who never complained as the primary caregiver of his wife and soul-mate for many years. He was a Christian man who loved God and loved his wife dearly. There was one other thing he loved almost as much… his TRAINS! Anyone who knew him also knew he was an avid train enthusiast. His love of them was greatly amplified in the massive city of trains he enjoyed sharing with children. To cherish his memory, he leaves: his long-time love and wife of 27 years, Anelia C. Young; his 3 stepchildren Leontine (Ralph) Thompson of San Diego, CA, William C. McNeil of Phoenix, AZ and Kenneth (Michele) McNeil of Ft Stewart, GA; step grandchildren Malia Thompson and Leslie Thompson of San Diego, CA; Shamiyah Pusey of Fayetteville, NC, Jocquese McNeil and Jacoby McNeil of Flint; Anelia McNeil and Leontine McNeil of Phoenix, AZ; and Kenneth McNeil II of Phoenix, AZ and Kamryn McNeil of Ft. Stewart, GA; his mother in law Fannie V. Hopkins of San Diego, CA; and his brother in law Clarence (Ida Nell) Hopkins, Jr. of Flint A host of other relatives and friends including: His cousin Daniel Stewart of Flint; and long-time family friend Brenda (James) Poindexter of Flint He was preceded in death by his parents Victor G. Young Sr. and Sarah Newton and father in law Clarence M.
