WATSON, Mr. Victor, Jr. - Age 79, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30AM Saturday, October 18, 2008 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Pastor Allen Overton officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Saturday. Mr. Watson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday. Mr. Victor Watson, Jr., was born August 8, 1929 in Wisner, Louisiana, the son of Mr. Victor Sr., and Mrs. Frances (Ferguson) Watson. Mr. Watson confessed his faith in God at an early age and was a member of the New Light Baptist Church in Wisner, Louisiana. He also received his education in the Louisiana Public School System. Mr. Watson married the “Love of his Life”, Mary Lene Swazer on January 21, 1950. To this union, one (1) son, Alvin Lawrence was born. He was a Self-Employed Builder/Carpenter for over fifty (50) years. The Watsons opened their hearts and their home to many including nieces, Dr. Frances Conley and Ms. Veola Sargent. They also reared as their own, their grandson, Prentiss Roshawn Rollins, and cousin, Pasquell Delano Brown. They also had a loving parent-son relationship with Edward Minor, just to name a few. Mr. and Mrs. Watson relocated to Flint, Michigan in 2006 because of their failing health, and to be with their son who served as their primary care-taker for the duration of both of their lives. Mrs. Watson entered into eternal rest in December, 2007. Mr. John Dumas was also very instrumental in their care along with Alvin prior to their relocating to Michigan. Mr. Watson leaves to cherish his memory: 2 sons, Alvin L.Watson of Flint, MI and Glen Watson of Chicago, IL; 2 grandsons, Prentiss R. Rollins of Dallas, TX and Jeffery (Rhonda) Grayer of Grand Blanc, MI; 1 granddaughter, Lockita (Tika) Watson of Flint, MI; 7 great-grandchildren; step-mother, Mrs. Bessie M. Watson of Wisner, LA; step-sister, Mrs. Roxie Demley of New Orleans, LA; 2 step-brothers, Mr. Jose Waston of Wisner, LA and Mr. Frederick Watson of Lafayette, LA; aunt, Mrs. Nettie (Too Sweet) Sargent of Wisner, LA; 2 adopted grandsons, Edward Minor of Wisner, LA and Pasquell Brown of Houston, TX; 3 sisters-in-law, Mrs. Willie B. Swazer of Houston, TX, Mrs. Rosa Watson of Orange, TX and Mrs. Velma Summonville of Monroe, LA; 2 brothers-in-law, Dea. King D. Swazer of Winnsboro, LA and Dea. Levy Swazer, Jr. of Flint, MI; special cousin, Mrs. Jessie M. Jones of Wisner, LA; special nephew, Mr. John Dumas of Winnsboro, LA; special friends, The Grayer, Snell, Lofton families, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his wife in December 2007; parents; 3 brothers; and daughter-in-law in August 2007.
