EDWARDS, Dea. Victor - Age 60, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Saturday, June 13, 2009 at St. James C.O.G.I.C., 2229 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Rev. Dr. Arnold Lakes officiating. Eld. Eddie Parrish, Host Pastor. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Saturday. Dea. Edwards will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday. Dea. Victor Lamar Edwards was born August 1, 1948 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Will and Rosalee Edwards. Victor was a member of the New Covenant Christian Church Disciples of Christ. Being a faithful Deacon under the guidance of the Holy Ghost, he initiated the food pantry for the New Covenant Christian Church Disciples of Christ. Victor was employed by Delphi, retiring in 1999 and was a member of UAW Local 659. He enjoyed bowling, going out to eat, spending time with family and friends. There was never a dull moment in his presence. Dea. Edwards never met a stranger and would always say something to make you smile and laugh. He leaves to cherish his memory: fiancée and caregiver, Victoria Aguilar; 3 daughters, Jackie Haywood, Shawntika Davis and LaTea Davis; 2 sons, Andre (Clara) Edwards, Demetries (Melissa) Davis, Sr., all of Flint; 18 grandchildren, Maria Aguilar, Djuana (Andrew) Fields, Jawanza and Malaki Edwards, Vondreece, Rashad, Tre’Von, Trinity, Isaiah and Teaveon Davis, Jahniya and Johnny Walker, Jr., Adila Beird, Demontray, Demetries, Jr., Trizay Davis, Domonique and Chanica Haywood; 5 great-grandchildren, An’Drea and Analiya Fields, Kendrell and Katerieona Haywood and Barry Porter, Jr.; parents, Will and Rosalee Edwards; sister, Rita (Ozell) Waters; brother, Leonard (Linda) Edwards, all of Flint; aunt, Georgia Barbee of Baldwin, MI; uncle, Jessie Lakes of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Dea. Victor L. Edwards was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carrie and Isaiah Lakes. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center 4th floor staff.
