Mrs. Vertis "Marie" Clark

CLARK, Mrs. Vertis "Marie" - Age 81, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024, at her residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Monday, August 5, 2024, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Stephen Murphy, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 AM Monday. Mrs. Clark will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Sunday with family present from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM to receive friends. Vertis Marie (Henderson) Clark was born June 12, 1943 in Union Church, Mississippi, the 3rd daughter of Memphis and Missouri Henderson. She later moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan where she attended South High School. “Re” as she was affectionally called married the Late Joe Louis Clark where they later moved to Flint, Michigan and to this union 4 children were born. “Re” spent her time as a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, cleaning and helping others but most of all taking care of her family. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother that always laughed at their jokes even if they were about her. Vertis Marie Clark leaves to cherish her loving memory: son, Robert “Tuffy” (Delores) Clark; 2 daughters, Suzanne (Scott) Morgan, all of Flint, MI and Barbara “Penny” (Shawn) Charles of Ann Arbor, MI; special goddaughter, Cheasha (Adrian) McClain of Flint; 8 grandchildren, JaVonda Keith of Flushing, MI, Tara (Arthur) Gowdy, Shaquala (Domonique) Crayton, all of Flint, Dejujuan Nelson of Grand Rapids, MI, Damonte (Devin) Nelson of Lansing, MI, Tia Horne of North Carolina, Jaylen Nelson of Saginaw, MI and A’Kayla Charles of Ann Arbor, MI; 7 great-grandchildren, Michael II and Mykel Banks, Jordan and Jaida “Honey Boochie” Gowdy, Kennedi and Isaiah Crayton, and Baby Deion Nelson; sister, Emily Barker of Grand Rapids, MI; sisters-in-law, Lula Henderson of Chicago, IL and Betty (Johnny) Green of Hattiesburg, MS; brothers-in-law, Daniel and Frank Clark, both of Union Church, MS; special friend, Tammy Lawson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Vertis was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Louis Clark; son, Baby Bobby L. Clark; parents, Memphis and Missouri Henderson; 2 sisters, Margarie and Almedas Clark; 4 brothers, Memphis, Curtis, Andrew and James Henderson.
