BAXTER, Mrs. Vera - Age 78, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2026 in Linden, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Thursday, February 19, 2026, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Dianna Johnson, Officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, 4413 Flushing Rd, Flint, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Thursday. Mrs. Baxter will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed during family hour only. Mrs. Vera Loretta Baxter was born October 26, 1947, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Odell and Izora Watkins. Vera was employed at the Farmer’s Market. Her hobbies were DIY Crafts, doing Word Search Puzzles books and reading her Bible. Vera was very helpful to a countless number of people. She made it her business to put a smile on your face or just burst out laughing. Vera meant a lot to a lot of people. Mrs. Vera Loretta Baxter leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Antionette M. Baxter of Flint; son, Anthony J. Baxter (Shamsuclin Mahdi); grandchildren, Jumaanah Yasmeen Mixon, Adara Iman Mahdi, Qadriyyah Tajah Mahdi, Daiviri Amaru Mahdi, Alexus LaChelle Murphy, Immanuel Issac Newton and Noelle Satrice-Lynn Stone; great-grandchildren, Princeton Jeremah Harris, Camdyn Jupiter Mixon, Tuari JC Coopany-Mahdi and Melynnie Aaliyah Mixon; 3 sisters, Yvonne Ford, Sedell Lacy, both of Flint and Janice Watkins of Mounds, IL; niece, Ernisha Johnson of Grand Blanc, MI; 5 nephews, Reggie Watkins of Waldorf, MD, Jimmy Lacy Jr. of Lapeer, MI, Terrence Lacy of Flint, Romell Watkins of Mounds, IL and Lawernce Ford of Hampton, VA; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Dawanda Stone, Paula Anthony, Mrs. Joselyn Johnson, Deena Myles, Thomas Collins, Ruth White, Traci Halverson, Karla Holiday, Carolyn Clemons, Bunny Conyers, Kim Anderson and Jennifer McDonald. Mrs. Baxter was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela D. Baxter; parents, Odell and Izora Watkins. The family would like to express special thanks to Marita Shelton and family.
