HALEY, Mrs. Vanessa Maria - Age 65, passed away Friday, February 19, 2021 at her residence. Family hour 11:30 AM Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Family Worship Center Church International, 3280 N. Linden Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12:00 Noon. Pastor James Hodo, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:30 AM Tuesday. Mrs. Haley will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Monday. Ms. Vanessa Maria Haley was born May 23, 1955 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of James and Vaudria Johnson. Vanessa was a lifelong resident of Flint and a member of Family Worship Center Church International. She graduated from Flint Southwestern High School, “Class of 1973.” Vanessa earned an Associate Degree from Baker College and a Bachelor Degree from Spring Arbor University. She was employed and retired from General Motors Corporation Customer Care and After Sales. Vanessa loved helping people and being there for others. She also enjoyed shopping at all her favorite store where she lovingly acquired her special sales people. She also loved family gatherings, especially holidays. Vanessa was an avid football fan and especially loved her Michigan State Spartans. Ms. Vanessa Maria Haley leaves to cherish her memory: 2 sons, Troy (Taneaka) Haley of Ypsilanti, MI and Wilford “Pete” Haley of Flint; grandson, Princeton Haley (whom she lovingly referred to as her “Medicine”); sister, Delores (Louis) Perry; a host of nieces including special niece/daughter, Rhonda (Terrence) Anderson of Jonesboro, GA; a host of nephews including special nephew, James (DeDe) Hodo of Flint; a host of cousins including, Marvin (Linette) Bourne of Flint, Shirley Britt of Swartz Creek, MI; special longtime friends, Sylvia (Ron) Poncil, Jonice (Keith) Lawrence of South Carolina an Deborah (Robert) Jones of Georgia. Ms. Haley was preceded in death by her parents, James and Vaudria Johnson; and sister, Gwendolyn Johnson. The family would like to express special thanks to Kindred Hospice, caregivers, Nikki Steele and Tasha McCloud, Family Worship Center Church International family and special assistant caregiver, Aubree Steele.
