CARTER, Ms. Vanessa Rena - Age 47, passed away Tuesday, March 16,2010 At Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2010 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m. Eld. Kenneth L. Stewart officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Carter will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Thursday. Ms. Vanessa Rena Carter was born March 13, 1963 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn and Helen Carter. Vanessa was a resident of Flint, Michigan and a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church. She graduated from Flint Northwestern High School “Class of 1981”. Vanessa also attended Baker College and Shaw College of Detroit. She was employed at the Windmill and at a Mexican Restaurant. Vanessa loved to cook and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She was a good person with a big heart and was very strong even during her illness. Ms. Vanessa Rena Carter leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Lanisha Rena Carter of Flint; 4 sisters, Melva Brewer of De Moines, IA, Jacqueline Solomon of Greensboro, NC, Debra and Joan Carter, both of Flint; 5 brothers, Lewis Sheppard, Marshall Lee Carter, Marval Carter, Lynnell D. Carter and Bryant Carter; a host of nieces and nephews including special niece, Janiya Carter and special nephew, Lonnie Carter; uncle, Mr. Jethro Carter of Grand Blanc, MI; cousins, Faye and Todd Carter of Grand Blanc, MI, Terri Anderson of Detroit, MI, Marian Rencher of Ypsilanti, MI, Maurice and Felix Rencher of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends including special friend, Mr. Kevin Dedrick of Flint. Ms. Carter was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn and Helen Carter; brother, Michael Lynn Carter; nephew, Joseph Spears; aunt, Mildred Rencher; and uncle, Willie Carter. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center ICU, Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart, Mildred Williams and family and friends who were there in our time of bereavement.
