BLAKE, Ms. Vanessa Ilene - Age-64, passed away Monday, April 2, 2018 at her residence. Family hour 11AM Saturday, April 14, 2018, from First Union Baptist Church, 7004 Fleming Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12PM. Rev. Archie Powell, officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, MI. Ms. Blake will lie in state at the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed 12PM-8PM Friday. Ms. Vanessa Ilene Blake was born March 30, 1954 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Lonzo Sr. and Mollie Blake. Vanessa was baptized at an early age and would attend First Union Baptist Church when she could. She graduated from Northwestern High School, “Class of 1972”. Vanessa was a jack of all trades until her health started to decline. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing Dominos, cards and going to Bingo with her sisters. Ms. Vanessa Ilene Blake leaves to cherish her memory: son, Lawrence (Tina) Blake; granddaughter, Zy’Riah Blake; 3 sisters, Carolyn Nicholson, Laurie Blake, all of Flint and Tracy Blake-McEwen of Columbus, OH; brother, Lonzo Blake, Jr. of Flint; nieces, Natasha Gist, Cassandra (Harold) Gilmore, both of Georgia, Anndreall Russell of Flint and LaRashia (Ryon) McCombs of Columbus, OH; 7 nephews, Kirk (Lawanda) Williams of Antioch, TN, Dion (Ion) Williams, Llewellyn Jones II, all of Flint, Sabin (Jeremy) Blake of Ferndale, MI, Sharrone Terrell of Jackson, MS, Blake McEwen and Brandon McEwen, Both of Columbus, OH, sister-in-law, Regina Blake; 3 brothers-in-law, Wayne Jones, Chester Coburn, both of Flint and David McEwen of Columbus, OH; aunt, Lorce Blake of Flint and Robert Jones of Middleton, TN; special friends, Darryl Cox, Robbie (Tracy) Richards, Richard Davis and family, the Spears, Jones and Ingram families; a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Ms. Blake was preceded in death by her parents, Lonzo Sr. and Mollie Blake; grandparents; brothers, Earl (Nancy) Turner, Wayne Blake, Sr. and Lawrence Ray Blake; nephew, Wayne Blake, Jr. and brother-in-law, Jimmie Nicholson.
