ARNOLD, Ms. Valerie Jean (Tyson) - Age 49, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Detroit Receiving Hospital. Family hour 12Noon Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 1083 E. Stewart Ave., with funeral service commencing at 1PM, Pastor Ray L. Larry officiating. Rev. Lewis Randolph, Host Pastor. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12Noon Wednesday. Ms. Arnold will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Tuesday. Ms. Valerie Jean Tyson-Arnold was born March 16, 1959 in Flint, MI, the daughter of Phynis and Lavada Tyson. Valerie was born and raised in Flint. She was baptized at an early age at Foss Avenue Baptist Church. Valerie graduated from Northwestern High School “Class of 1977". She had over 15 years of service as a CENA and was employed at Kith Haven for the last 10 years. Valerie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whom she touched in so many ways. Most known for her homemade carmel cake and her special way of seasoning, especially her bar-b-que. She leaves to cherish her memory: children, JaQuetta (Chris Bell) Tyson and K’Dijah Tyson; parents, Phynis and Lavada Tyson; 3 sisters, Beverly (David Lewis) Phelps, all of Flint, Barbara (Larry) Walker of Arlington, TX and Lisa (Cedric Woods) Tyson of Flint; 2 brothers, Gregory (Verlene) Love of Moro, AK and Ray (Maxine) Larry of Slidell, LA; nieces, Monica Phelps, Shavon (Ken) Lowe, Nikia (Shelton) Howard, Keta (David) Murrel and DaQuandra Lewis; 14 great-nieces; 1 great-great-niece; nephews, Johnathon (Lisa) Phelps, Gregory (Elonda) Love, Jr., Detrick Larry and Mario Love; 11 great-nephews; 9 aunts; 5 uncles; god-parents, Albert and Cora Harden; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Tina Spencer, Rene Chapman, Stephanie Smith, Gwendolyn Simms, Dale Allen, Michael Warner and Steve Mosely, fathers of her children, Lynell Carter and Leroy Arnold. Ms. Arnold was preceded in death by her brother, Phillip; grandparents; aunts; uncles; cousins; and nephew.
