Mr. Ulysses "Pistol" Singleton Jr.

SINGLETON, JR., Mr. Ulysses "Pistol" - Age 67, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 11 a.m. May 11, 2013 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:30 a.m. Entombment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 11 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Singleton will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2-8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Ulysses Singleton, Jr. “Pistol” was born April 9, 1946 in Edwards, Mississippi, the son of Ulysses and Vantee (Thomas) Singleton. Ulysses resided in Flushing, Michigan with his loving wife, Darlia. “Pistol” retired from Buick, a division of General Motors after 37.6 years of service in Production and for a short time as Production Coordinator and was a member of UAW Local 599. He lived a happy life while enjoying his grandchildren, gardening, raising chickens, fishing, hunting, playing the saxophone and was an avid sportsman and a “master gardener.” Ulysses had also been studying piano at Mott Community College for the last three years. Mr. Ulysses Singleton, Jr. “Pistol” leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Darlia Singleton; 5 children, Ulysses Singleton III, Armond (Tina) Singleton, Andrea Danielle (Edrice) Weatherspoon, David Burns and Dana Burns; 12 grandchildren, DeAndre, Ashla, Damondo, Jalen, Dominique, Armond Jr., Alexis, Darian, Dana Jr., Jordan, Macyn, and Darjae; 14 siblings, Elex Singleton, Mattie Robinson, John “Pappy” (Marcelin) Singleton, all of Vicksburg, MS, Matilda (Lincoln) Haynes of Shreveport, LA, Daisy Harbin of Vicksburg, MS, Robert “T” Turner of Chicago, IL, Alma Boyd, Eula Brown, both of Vicksburg, MS, Louise Price, Margie Ruth (Rufus) Williams and Calvin (Shirley) Price, all of Edwards, MS, Ozie Mae (Louis) Turner of Picayune, MS, Helen Mosley of Illinois, Ernest (Lola) Price and Stella Price, all of Detroit, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends survive. Mr. Singleton was preceded in death by his parents, Ulysses and Vantee Singleton; foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Judge Price; mother-in-law, Patricia Louise Nelson; brothers, Fred Singleton, Alonzo Singleton, Judge Price, Jr. and T.C. Price; nephews, Ishmael and Demarcus Singleton.
