EDWARDS, Mr. Tyler Emmanuel - Age 27, passed away Monday, August 15, 2022 at his residence. Family hour 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with Funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM. Rev. Naylo Hopkins, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 AM Wednesday. Mr. Edwards will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM Tuesday, with family present from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM to receive friends. Mr. Tyler Emmanuel Edwards was born August 26, 1994 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Tamra Warren and Terrence Edwards. He accepted Christ at an early age and was Christened at Harris Temple Church Of God In Christ and later joined Bethel United Methodist Church where Tyler loved to attend Vacation Bible School and Sunday School. He enjoyed serving on the Evangelism and Promotion Committees, Junior Usher Board, Lay Speaker, and serving as an Acolyte. Tyler also served as a volunteer for Big Brothers/Sisters. He would say, “I’m blessed to be part of so many things.” Tyler was inquisitive and showed interest in learning. He attended Flint and Swartz Creek Public Schools, graduating from Swartz Creek High School in 2012. While attending grades K-12, Tyler participated in Basketball, Football, and Track & Field. He knew the importance of education. Tyler continued to pursue higher learning at Mott Community College and was named to the Dean’s List in 2013. He transferred to Alma College in the fall of 2014. During his time at Alma College, Tyler received numerous accolades and awards for his excellence in Basketball. He excelled on the court and in the classroom, graduating in April of 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Marketing. After graduation, Tyler served as Alma College Varsity Assistant Coach and Head Junior Varsity Coach for two seasons. He then relocated to Grand Rapid, MI where he became Head Coach at Comstock Park High School and was employed as an Account Executive with Brooksource Eight Eleven Group. * Tyler was a friend to many, never meeting a stranger. * Mr. Tyler Emmanuel Edwards loved his family and leaves to cherish his sweet memories: mother, Tamra Warren; father, Terrence (Linda) Edwards; brothers, Cedric Horton, Marqus (Amanda) Cole, Terrence (Tamyra) Edwards, all of Georgia, Tj Edwards, Michael Harris, both of Flint and Tahj Edwards of Chicago, IL; special brother/cousin, Timothy Edwards II of Grand Blanc, MI; grandmothers, Lula Warren and Emily Edwards, both of Flint; uncles, Todd (Renee) Edwards of California, Timothy (Shawn) Edwards of Grand Blanc, MI, Ted Warren of Flint, Robert Warren of Memphis, TN and Jason Borden of Flint; aunts, Mattie Kemp, Doretha (Jessie) Russell, Joyce (Byron) Richard, Darrilyn Warren, all of Flint, Terri Warren of Georgia, Tamara Edwards of Flint, Teresa (Joe) Farrar of Georgia, Tamara and Tonya Edwards of Flint; special girlfriend, Kayla Brooks of Grand Rapids, MI; and JoJo, Man’s best friend; nephew, Carter Horton; nieces, Taryn Edwards, Ava and Bella Cole, all of Georgia; god-mother, Lorna Lightbourn-Foster; numerous cousins and wonderful friends including the Brooks family. Tyler was preceded in death by his grandfathers, R. Lee Warren and Larry Edwards; uncles, Edward Perkins and Cornelius McGee; cousin, Tiffany Edwards.
