Turencie Johnson

JOHNSON, Ms. Turencie Deloris - Age 68, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 in Richmond, Virginia. Family hour 10AM Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Christ The King Catholic Church, 1811 Seymour Ave., with funeral mass celebrated at 11AM, Father George Puthenpeedika, celebrant. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Thursday. Ms. Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Wednesday with Scripture Service commencing at 7PM. Mrs. Turencie Johnson was born August 24, 1939 in Roanoke, Alabama, the daughter of Robert Reed and Dollye Marie Poke. Turencie relocated to Flint, Michigan as a young child. She worked for the City of Flint until her retirement in 1996. Turencie was truly blessed to have remained active until the Lord called her home. She was an active member of Christ The King Catholic Church, where she volunteered her services as a Catechism Teacher, and was a member of the Altar Society. She also volunteered at the St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank and the Christ The King Food Pantry on a regular basis. Turencie was a member of ABWA Nu Lite Chapter, and the Ko Ko Kye Red Hatters. Turencie was an avid bowler until her health forced her to retire. She leaves to cherish her memory: 3 devoted sons, DeForest, LaZarre and Duane Johnson, all of Flint; 3 devoted daughters, Sabrina Bankston and Alicia (Kenneth) Booker of Grand Blanc and Deloris (James) Sales of Lansing, MI; 7 grandsons, Michael, Matthew, and Mario Bankston, DeForest Johnson Jr., Julian and Jarred Sales and Lane Booker; 2 granddaughters, Jessica Johnson and Nia Booker; 1 great-grandson; 1 great-granddaughter; beloved sister, Myrna (Grover) Kirkland of Flint; God-children, Chatori Thomas and William Loar; 2 brothers-in-law, Moses and Lonnie Goosby; Turencie leaves a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Joe and Doris Webb, Cindy Morsee, Berlin and Connie Dobson, John and Diane Johnson, Nina Poole, Joe Brady, Patsy Turner and Betty Wright. Turencie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Reed and Dollye Poke; and father of her children, Roosevelt Johnson.
