Mr. Titus Altheimer Sr.

ALTHEIMER, Sr., Mr. Titus - Age 89, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Maplewood Manor in Clio, MI. Family hour 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2012 at New St. James Memorial C.O.G.I.C., 2229 W. Carpenter Rd. with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Elder Eddie Parrish officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Altheimer will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday. Mr. Titus Altheimer was born March 20, 1923 in Rison, Arkansas, the son of Arthur & Lula Altheimer. He was a resident of Flint, Michigan for over 60 years. A loyal, dedicated, member and Deacon at the New St. James Memorial Church Of God In Christ. Titus was also a member of the Kitchen Ministry. He attended the Arkansas Public School System. In his early years he was employed at Citizen’s Bank, later serving as General Foreman at the IMA Auditorium & Sports Arena currently known as the Perani Event Center. Titus ended his years of labor with the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church all here in Flint. Mr. Altheimer enjoyed cooking, but was best known for his “Barbequing and Sweet Potatoe Pies.” He enjoyed Small Game Hunting, spending time with his family and dancing. Mr. Altheimer loved living life itself. He was truly a loving and caring man who met no strangers. Mr. Altheimer was a brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many. But most of all he was a wonderful father and grandfather. Mr. Titus Altheimer leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Anita (Gregory) Terry; 2 sons, Titus A. Altheimer (Pamela) and Kenneth (Patricia) Altheimer, Sr.; 7 grandchildren, Lawanna Hall, Omar (Normethal) Brown-El, Ashley Altheimer, Kenneth (Allegra) Altheimer, Jr., Anthony D. Thorton, Jr., Mykayla Foster and A’Mariya Foster; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Hattie Lee (John) Cromartie of Seattle, WA; sister-in-law, Thelma Cheatom of Houston, TX; brother-in-law, Bill Dantzler of Lansing, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including New St. James Memorial C.O.G.I.C. Family; longtime friends, Ozell Waters and Mattie L. Malone. Mr. Altheimer was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur & Lula Altheimer; wife, Johnnie M. Altheimer; son, Derrick D. Altheimer; 5 brothers and 4 sisters. The family would like to express special thanks to Maplewood Manor Nursing Home Staff, Clio, MI, and McLaren Hospice Care.
