BENSON, Mr. Timothy – Age 48, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Genesys Health Park. Family hour 10AM Saturday, September 19, 2009 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Pastor Lewis Randolph officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10AM Saturday. Mr. Benson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday. Mr. Timothy Benson was born December 17, 1960 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Melbia Benson and Albert Benson. Timothy was a resident of Grand Blanc, Michigan. He was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Timothy graduated from Northern High School “Class of 1979” and received his Masters Degree from Baker College in 1995. He was employed with the State of Michigan for 10 years and General Motors SPO for 11 years. Timothy was a jokester and was always lending a helping hand. He enjoyed computers and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan since he was a child. Mr. Timothy Benson leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Beatrice Benson; 3 daughters, Brandie Henderson, Candace (Chris) Terry and Timetrice Benson; 8 grandchildren, Timothy Benson, Christopher Benson-Terry, Jr., Keon Cole, Jr., Duryonna Woodall, Christina Terry, Nevaeh Woodall, Cynthia Terry and Dewaine Benson-Coleman; mother, Melbia Benson; step-mother, Lee Ronea; grandmother, Ludie Yarbrough, all of Flint; 2 sisters, Kim McNeal of Flint and Mildred Diane Rogers of Alabama; 3 brothers, Joe (Barbara) Brown, Gerald Benson, all of Flint and Albert (Mary) Warren of Alabama; 4 aunts, Roxie Lewis, Fannie Mae Broom, both of Las Vegas, NV, Callie Mabry of Detroit, MI and Julia Ealy of Akron, OH; 2 uncles, Lessie Paul (Pearl) Yarbrough of Las Vegas, NV and Vernon Yarbrough; mother-in-law, Barbara Elzer, both of Flint ; 2 sisters-in-law, Barbara Brown of Flint and Jacqueline Strange of Detroit, MI; 2 brothers-in-law, Tracy Gordon and Robert (Karen) Gordon, II of Kansas; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Craig McNeal, Sam Roberts of Lansing, George Moran and the Zerka family. Mr. Benson was preceded in death by his father, Albert Benson; grandfather, Arthur Benson; 2 sisters, Janice Turner and Ann Gibson; nephew, Charles Bauswell; and father-in-law, Otis Elzer.
