BRIGGS, Mr. Thurman - Age 51, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022, at his residence. Family hour 1:30PM Friday, November 4, 2022, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at2:00 PM. Interment Gracelawn Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Funeral Home1:30 PM Friday. Mr. Briggs will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Thursday. Bro. Thurman Decarlo Briggs “Hasan-EL” was born June 27, 1971 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Emma Jean (Thomas) Briggs and the late William Briggs Jr. Thurman and his younger brother, Martin were christened as babies at Holy Hill Church Of God In Christ by the late Pastor & Step-father, Cleave Latchison. They later together accepted and confessed the Lord as Savior at a very young age, by the late Pastor, Jasper Mays in Emerson, AR. Thurman was a member of Holy Hill Church Of God In Christ until it closed. He was taught the ways of Godliness growing up. Thurman ran track and played football at Flint Northwestern High School, graduating in 1989. He studied Business at Mott Community College. Thurman played on the softball team in elementary school. He ran track and played basketball in junior high school in Arkansas. Thurman won perfect attendance awards for most of his school years. He excelled in the Amway Business Organization. Thurman received awards in Georgia as Car Salesman from Mercedes Benz an Chevrolet dealerships. He was Employee of the Month at McDonald’s in Flint. Thurman owned and operated Great Lakes Lawn Care for many years, also removing snow. Thurman along with younger brother, Martin established a Computer Repair Business. He was a Credit Repair Counselor for a few years. Thurman was a motivational speaker. He supported St. Jude Hospital. Thurman ran the 10 Mile Crim Race for many years. He also ran Marathons in Detroit, Boston and New York. Thurman participated and finished in the Iron Man Competition. His hobbies included going to the Library, reading, researching, studying, golfing, playing the guitar and watching sports on TV. He was the musical franchise owner of “Framed One.” To describe Thurman, he was loveable, friendly, optimistic, positive, a big dreamer, a go-getter, out going, humble, free-hearted, adventurous, loved traveling, loved his mom and family. Also he loved family reunions and functions. He was an excellent skater. Thurman was a mentor to his late brother, Timothy Latchison. Bro. Thurman Decarlo Briggs “Hasan-EL” leaves to cherish his memory: mother, Mrs. Emma Jean Latchison of Flint; step-mother, Jimmie Green of Mississippi; sisters, Roberta Watson of Texas, Evelyn Martin of Flint and Dwanda Green of Mississippi; brother, Angelo Thomas of Arkansas, William “Ted” Briggs of Texas, Martin Briggs of Flint, Patrick and Ramie Green of Arkansas; nieces, Raquel Watson, Tenyah and Teerah Carson, all of Texas; nephews, Jerry Michael Martin of Lansing, MI and William “Pooh” Hildreth of Texas; a host of cousins; sister-in-law, Mrs. Sylvia Briggs of Texas; step-sisters, Gwen Howard of Flint and Carolyn Dotson of Texas; step-brother, David (Rose) Latchison of Grand Blanc, MI; a host of other relatives and friends including special friend, Debbie Williams. Bro. Briggs was preceded in death by his father, William Briggs Jr.; step-father, Pastor Cleve Latchison; play daddy, Jesse Green; grandparents, Roberta and Ike Thomas, William Briggs Sr, and Emma Langston Briggs; brother, Timothy C. Latchison; step-brothers, Elder Jerome Latchison and Jimmy Collins; 8 aunts; 10 uncles. The family would like to express special thanks to Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home.
