Mr. Thomas Rosborough

ROSBOROUGH, Mr. Thomas - Age 91, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016 at Willowbrook Manor. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Bethel United Methodist Church, 1309 N. Ballenger Hwy., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Rosborough will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. with family present from 5 p.m. - 7 p. m. Friday. Mr. Thomas Elbert Rosborough was born November 24, 1924 in Texarkana, Arkansas the second of three sons born to Primes Rosborough and Georgia (Bead) Rosborough-Taylor. He was educated in the Flint Public School System and graduated from Flint Northern High School. After graduating, Thomas was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army having served in WWII. He retired from Buick Motor Company, a division of General Motors, with over 40 years of employment. On July 20, 1947 Thomas married the love of his life, Betty Jane Reed. On July 20, 2007, the couple celebrated 60 years of marriage. With his best friend and soul-mate, Betty, the couple loved to travel and attend plays. They enjoyed their time together until her death on May 8, 2008. Thomas was an avid and accomplished bowler who was well known in the bowling circuit around town. He was seen frequently in the local bowling alleys, where he bowled on many different leagues. Thomas was a long time, devoted and faithful member of Bethel United Methodist Church. He was very active in all aspects of the church. Thomas was a member of the United Methodist Men and looked forward to their monthly meetings at Bethel and in the district. He loved to sing and was a member of the Male Chorus, the Gospel and Chancel Choirs. Thomas served as an official representative at district church meetings and annual conferences. He also served on the Board of Trustees and numerous other boards and committees at the church. Thomas was an outgoing people person. He was always very friendly and easy to talk to. Thomas truly cared about people and shared his wisdom and knowledge with others. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand whenever and wherever needed. Thomas was a true servant of God. Mr. Thomas Elbert Rosborough leaves to cherish his memory: his brother, Carl (Verma) Rosborough of Flint; sister-in-law, Ruby Houston of Litchfield Park, AZ; nieces, Sherry Baker, Terry Coles and Cheree (Winfred) Loper all of Flint, Gwendolyn Goodrum (Jack Wassell) of Federal Way, WA, Edythe Hatter-Williams of Lansing, MI, Carla (Ricardo) Harrington, Toni Silas, and Gayle Silas all of Detroit, MI, Valerie (Jacob) Smith of Litchfield Park, AZ and Sherlynn Smith of San Antonio, TX; nephews, William Rosborough, Gregory Rosborough and Tyrone Griffin, all of Flint, Carl Rosborough Jr. of Belford, IN, Elroy Rosborough of Detroit, MI, Carl (Brenda) Silas of Little Rock, AR, James (Lisa) Reed of Country Club Hills, IL, Walter Reed of San Antonio, TX, Gregory (Maudell) Houston of Atlanta, GA, Vance Houston of Murfeesboro, TN, Gary Houston of Buckeye, AZ, Paul (Bernice) Houston and Troy Houston all of Litchfield Park, AZ; a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends including special cousins, Laura Hill and Joan Van Hurley; and special friends, David Smiley, Minnie Armstong and Almarie Ryans. Mr. Rosborough was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Rosborough; mother, Georgia Rosborough-Taylor; father, Primes Rosborough; step-father, Clifford Taylor; brother, Owen Rosborough; and other relatives. The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude and special thank you to Carl and Gregory Rosborough who so lovingly and unselfishly provided care and unlimited support to help make the last years of our loved one’s life to be as fruitful and comfortable as possible; Lockwood of Burton, Brookdale Assisted Living, Hurley Medical Center, Willowbrook Manor, Heart to Heart Hospice and Heartland Hospice for the care and attention provided to our loved one.
