Mr. Thomas Davis

DAVIS, Mr. Thomas - Age 85, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Genesys Health Park - Grand Blanc, MI. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle, 930 E. Myrtle Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Davis will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Thomas Davis “Bill” was born on August 5, 1929 in Schlater, Mississippi, the son of Mr. Shadrach and Caldonia Davis. He lived in to Tchula, MS where he attended Mileston High School. He moved to Flint, Michigan where he met the love of his life, Johnnie at Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle where they were united in Holy Matrimony; they were happily married for 56 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Thomas was very active in the community; he served as a Local and District Usher at Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle, Trustee Board Member and served as President and Volunteer at the North End Soup Kitchen with other Metro members. He was employed at Grand Blanc Metal Fab, a division of General Motors and was a member of UAW Local #1292 for over 30 years. Thomas was very active in the Local #1292 Retirement Group. Thomas loved traveling, gardening, socializing with others and was active at the Brennan Community Center. He was truly a wonderful man and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Mr. Thomas Davis leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Mrs. Johnnie M. Davis; granddaughter, Tashan Tucker of Flint; great-grandchildren, Orraccious, and Qiyaamah Tucker, Jonaa Wilson and Tahrad Brown, all of Flint; great-great-grandchild, Orraccious Brown, Jr.; sister, Geraldine Watson of Chicago, IL; brother, Robert Davis of Detroit, MI; a host of nieces including special niece, Elois Smith of Chicago, IL; a host of nephews including special nephew, Kevin Davis of Orange, TX; a host of cousins including special cousin, Alberta of Detroit, MI; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by: mother, Caldonia Davis; father, Shadrach Davis; 3 brothers, Crook, Abednego and Bo; step-daughter, Teria Tucker. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all of you for your prayers, presence, love, telephone calls, telegrams, and all other expressions of concern that you have shown during their time of bereavement. Never more than now was your kindness needed and more appreciated.
