TURNER, Mr. Theodore Sr. "Ted" - Age 87, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Ascension Providence Hospital-Southfield Campus, Southfield, MI. Family hour 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 10, 2023, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Martez Warren officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 AM Tuesday. Mr. Turner will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Monday. Mr. Theodore R. “Ted” “Pee Wee” Turner, Sr. was born October 22, 1935 in Meridian, Mississippi, the son of Ben and Louise Turner. Mr. Turner was a resident of Flint, Michigan for more than 65 years after relocation to Michigan from Edwardsville, IL by the way of Meridian, MS. He was a 32nd Degree Mason for many years until becoming inactive. Ted was a hard-working man. Retired in 1996 after 42 years of service at General Motors V-8 Engine Plant on skilled trades; assisted J. Merrill Spencer (Spencer Funeral Home) from 1955 until the time the funeral home closed for business. Mr. Turner was the first shift supervisor over the cleaning crew for several years at K-Mart on Dort Highway. Mr. Turner liked to attend car shows and football games with his sons. Mr. Theodore R. “Ted” “Pee Wee” Turner, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: wife of 65 ½ years, Clara Turner of Flint; 2 daughters, Ingrid (Jackie) Lewis of Flushing, MI and Alfreda Turner of Mt. Morris, MI; 2 sons, Theodore (Shirlet) Turner, Jr. of Grand Blanc, MI and Roosevelt Turner of Flint; 9 grandchildren, Shannon (Randolph) Galloway of Ypsilanti, MI, Shana Turner of Mesa, AZ, Demetruis (Yanna) Turner of Phoenix, AZ, Deondra (Dion) Lee of Surprise, AZ, Kelvin Turner, Sr, Kavonta (Kaylynn) Tuner, Sr., all of Flint, MI, Dominique Turner of Dallas, TX, Paris Brodie of Flint and Jasmarae Turner of Grand Blanc, MI; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces, Annette Hicks of Texas and Lyndia (Thomas) Black of Davison, MI; 2 nephews, Clifton (Sharon) Carpenter and Willie (Adele) Carpenter, all of Edwardsville, IL; great-niece, Dr, Kenyette Dotson of Flint Township, MI; two sisters-in-law, Alicia Morton of Flint and Naomi Anderson of Detroit, MI; brother-in-law, Oscar Morton of Milwaukee, WI; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Louise Turner; sister, Eloise Carpenter; nieces, Lucy Carpenter, Katie Carpenter, Hattie Sue Carpenter and Valerie Morton; nephew, John Henry Carpenter; brother-in-law, Roosevelt Morton; great-nephew, Roosevelt “Little Rose” Morton; and close friends, J. Merrill Spencer, Doc Brown, Alfred Scott.
