Mr. Terry Rawls

RAWLS, Mr. Terry - Age 65, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2024 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Monday, December 9, 2024 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Elder. Veotis Jones, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 10:00 AM Monday. Mr. Rawls will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Sunday, with family present from 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM to receive friends. Mr. Terry “Ta-Lee” Rawls was born July 10,1959 in Flint, MI, the son of Bertha Mae Rawls and Albert Mathis Sr. He accepted Christ at an early age joining Morning Star Baptist Church. In 1980 he married his soulmate Patricia “Bird” Steele. To this union 3 children were born. Terry was a fun-loving man who enjoyed barbequing, listening to music, telling jokes and spending time with his grandchildren, they shared many “inside jokes” which only they understood, “I'm a man about mine” “weeee” ‘10-4 and I’m gone”. He gave just about everybody a nickname. He was man amongst men. Some of his favorite pass times included fishing with his nephew Curt-Curt “Butter” Steele, talking and texting about sports with his mother, and going to sporting events with his nieces Toi & Joi. Terry lived a full happy life he made everyone laugh and was loved by all. Mr. Terry Rawls leaves to cherish his memory: loving wife, Patricia “Bird” Rawls; son, De’Juan Rawls Sr.; 2 daughters, Terri “Poon” (Tim Keith) Rawls and Patricia “Tika” Rawls, all of Flint; 9 grandchildren, Zameer “Zee” Rawls, Jalen “JD” Rawls, Semaj Rawls, Jonas Rawls, De’Juan Rawls Jr, Jace Rawls, Jaseer Rawls, and Destini Rawls, all of Flint, and Alexis Rawls of Shreveport, LA; great granddaughter, Nebula Mordica; Mother, Bertha Mae Rawls and mother Hazel Mathis; 3 brothers, Albert Mathis, Tim (Charmaine) Mathis and David Mathis, all of Flint; 15 nieces; 12 nephews; 4 aunts, Vickie Rawls, Catherine Martin, ErLinda Rawls and Joy Mathis, all of Flint; 2 uncles, Thomas (Karen) Rawls of Flint, and Boyzie Mathis of Lawrenceville, GA; god-father, Lawrence Brooks; god-daughter, Sherita (Preston) Skinner; god-son ,Diondra Ragsdale of Flint; god-brothers, Maurice Brooks; 5 sisters-in-law, Dr. Carolyn D. Davis, Vivian Jones, Janice (Mike Carter) Steele-Anderson, Linda Steele, and Marilyn (William) Steele-Orr, all of Flint; 5 brothers-in-law, Curtis Steele Jr., Robert Steele Sr., Robert Webster, Mark Jones, all of Flint and Darryl Roach of Indianapolis, IN; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends the Rawls, Steele, Mathis, Pippins, Lyons, Albert-Woods, and Jones families, Peggy Wilson, Anthony Pippins, Willie Rawls Sr., Anthony Paxton, LaTika “Tank” Hawk, Larry Wilson, Joe Johnson, Lindsay Cuba, the Rosedale Avenue family, and Flint Northwestern, “Class of 78.” Mr. Rawls was preceded in death by his father, Albert Mathis Sr.; brothers, Joseph and Vincent Moore; grandparents, JD and Caldon Rawls, David and Rossie Mathis; father and mother-in-law, Curtis and Vivian Steele; aunts, Ella Mae Pippins, Maize Murphy, Febbie Goodlow, Geraldine Mathis, LeGretta Lyons and Mary Brown; uncles, JC Rawls and Frank Pippins.
