ADKISSON, Mr. Terrence Lamont - Age 43, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Vernon Chapel AME Church, 5802 Dupont St., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Pastor Ernest J. Garrison officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Tuesday. Mr. Adkisson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Monday. The family would like to give special thanks to Hurley Medical Center, Rev. Ernest J. Garrison, Sr. and Vernon Chapel AME Church Family. Mr. Terrence Lamont Adkisson “Terry” was born on January 27, 1966 in Long Beach, California, the son of James W. and Sharon Adkisson. He graduated from Flint Northwestern High School “Class of 1984”. “Terry” was smart, courageous and very out going. After graduating high school, he attended ITT Technology Center. He then met Rhonda French in 1986 and they conceived their son Terrence Lamont Jr. “Terry” started working on Mackinaw Island as a Chef and nurtured his passion for cooking. As the years passed, “Terry” worked at several different restaurants learning various skills and improving upon his techniques. Later, he became Head Chef at Olive Garden. In 2000 Terry even started his own catering business, if you ordered from there, you were greeted with “T-Yums what do you want to eat?” --and it was yummy. “Terry” enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting, watching old sitcoms, jamming on his saxophone, and playing old video games. In 1996 “Terry” met Rowanna LaShawn Logan and in 2002 they became husband and wife. “Terry” and Rowanna’s union blossomed his mentorship for children. He could often be seen coaching them in sports, cutting their hair, and sharing his curious wisdom. “Terry’s” memory will be cherished by: his loving wife, Rowanna; sons, Terrence Lamont Jr., Damon and Ramon; daughter, TruVai; parents, James and Sharon Adkisson; two sisters, Dana and Mya; brother, James; nephew, Damion; nieces, Asia and Chionna; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, god children, other relatives and friends. He was loved and will be missed by all. The family would like to give special thanks to Hurley Medical Center, Pastor Ernest J. Garrison, Sr. and Vernon Chapel AME Church Family.
