NICHOLS, Ms. Tammy L. - Age 41, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Church Without Walls, 6202 Dupont St., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Martez Warren officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Ms. Nichols will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday. Ms. Tammy Louise Nichols was born September 25, 1969 in Flint, Michigan the daughter of Birdie Mae and the late Willie Nichols, Jr. Tammy was a graduate of Flint Northern High School, “Class of 1988”, where she was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corp. She continued to play the Clarinet in the Marching Band on through her college years at Grambling State University. Tammy accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of True Temple Community Church, Eastern Stars and The Harmonic Ambassadors. She had a 20-plus career as a Direct Care Worker, building strong relationships with clients and co-workers. Tammy was so many things to so many people; she was honest, wise, loving, strong-willed, witty and had a beautiful spirit. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, traveling and music, but most of all entertaining close friends and family was her greatest joy. Ms. Tammy Louise Nichols leaves in God’s care: her partner of 20 years, Tacasha “Pane” McFarland of Flint; 2 sons, Ricco McFarland of Flint and Andre’ Nichols of Mars Hill, NC; daughter, Kennisha Cooney of Detroit, MI; granddaughter, Mya Dashay Louise Cooney; mother, Birdie Mae Nichols; 2 brothers, William C. (Renee) Nichols and Grady McFarland, all of Flint; god sisters, Stephanie Towner of Detroit, MI, Jean McGee of Atlanta, GA and Lisa McFarland of Flint; 6 nieces, Tammy’s name sake, Natasha “Louise” Nichols, Tiffany D. Weaver, Greta “Tika” McFarland, all of Flint, Precious Eave of Atlanta, GA, Johnnisha Perry and Travona Jackson, both of Cleveland, OH; 6 nephews, Kevin T. Nichols, Steve and Grady McFarland and Kevin Brown, all of Flint, Antonio “Pooh” McFarland of Atlanta, GA and Arthur “PJ” McGee III of Savannah, GA; 10 great-nieces; 11 great-nephews; uncle, Eddie (Mattie) Nichols of Cleveland, OH; aunt, Denise Cobb of Maryland; cousins, Felicia Nichols of Maryland, Denisha (Terry) Johnson of Virginia and Tassandra “Tasi” (Robert) Nichols, who was actually more like a brother and sister; a host of other relatives at heart and friends including, Cheryl Teer, Candice White, Shawnda Gaines, Alicia Powell, Renee Jones, Tina Keys, Sharon Williams, the Harmonic Ambassadors, Tammy Connely, C. Eugene and Laura Hardy, Jr., Joal Home, Wilson Road, Charles Lewis and the Russell family. Ms. Nichols was preceded in death by her father, Willie Nichols, Jr.; grandparents, Benny and Artie Dukes and Odell and Katie Norwood; and sister, Cotyie McFarland.
