Susie Harris

HARRIS, Mrs. Susie Blanche - Age 93, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2005 at Fosterian Manor. Funeral service 10:30AM Thursday, November 3, 2005 at Macedonia Baptist Church, G-5443 N. Saginaw St. Pastor Alfred L. Harris, Sr., officiating. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, 19975 Woodward Ave Detroit, Michigan. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Thursday. Mrs. Harris will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Wednesday. Mrs. Susie Blanche Harris was born on June 24, 1912 in Leighton, Alabama the daughter of Mrs. Fannie Toney and Mr. Edgar Luster. Mrs. Harris was baptized at an early age at the Galilee Baptist Church in Leighton, AL. In 1928, she relocated to Detroit, MI and was a faithful member of the Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board. Susie was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Cleo Harris, who preceded her in death in 1949. Mrs. Harris was employed with Chrysler, a division of General Motors Corporation, until retiring in 1977. Due to illness, Susie relocated to Flint, where she could be in the care of relatives. Shortly thereafter, because of her love for God, Mrs. Harris united with the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Although she was unable to attend, she felt it necessary to be united with a church family. Mrs. Susie Blanche Harris leaves to cherish her memory: cousins, Fannie (Joenathan) Barfield, and Susie Henry, all of Burton, MI, Mary and Darren Brown, Lynette Eggleston, all of Grand Blanc, MI, Andre (Laura) Henry of Davison, MI, Gladys Luster of Leighton, AL, Jeanett Hopkins of Chicago, IL, Edna (A.C.) Mastin of Flint; special adopted daughters, Regina (Victor) Pettway of Flint, and Candice Waterman of Southfield, MI; sister-in-law, Lula Farley of Sheffield, AL; special friends, Marie Valentine, Virginia Gomby, and Lula Hamlin. Mrs. Susie Blanche Harris was preceded in death by her husband; parents; stepsister; and numerous other relatives. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Peddireddy, Dr. Graham, Heartland Hospice, and Fostrian Nursing Center.
