STONE, Mr. Steven Bradford - Age 71, passed away Monday, July 13, 2026, at Hurley - Flint. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Every Nation Assembly of God, 429 NB Chavez Dr., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Michael Stone, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Saturday. Mr. Stone will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday. July 31, 2026. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." II Timothy 4:7 On the evening of July 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and sustained by the grace of God, Steven Bradford Stone peacefully entered into eternal rest. While our hearts grieve the loss of his physical presence, we rejoice knowing that he has received his heavenly reward and now rests in the presence of the Lord whom he faithfully served throughout his life. Steven was born on June 25, 1955, in Flint, Michigan. As the youngest boy among seven siblings, Steven was affectionately spoiled and fiercely protected by the five older brothers who lovingly watched over him. Their bond helped shape the compassionate, humorous, and family-centered man he would become. At an early age, Steven accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was saved and sanctified under the pastoral leadership of his late grandfather, Superintendent T. R. Harris, founder and pastor of Harris Temple Church of God in Christ. His Christian foundation became the guiding force of his life and remained steadfast through every season. Steven was a lifelong member of St. George Beth-El Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of his favorite aunt and uncle, the late Bishop A.G. Burrell and Mother Normal Burrell, where he faithfully worshipped and willingly served wherever he was needed. Whether assisting with church ministries, supporting special events, encouraging fellow members, or investing his time in the lives of children, Steven served with humility and joy. He possessed a genuine heart for young people and believed every child deserved encouragement, kindness, and someone who believed in them. His quiet acts of service often went unnoticed by many, but never by God. Steven received his education through Flint Community Schools, graduating from Flint Central High School with the Class of 1974. A gifted athlete, he earned a full basketball scholarship to Waubonsee Community College in Aurora, Illinois, where he obtained his Associate Degree. Continuing his education, he attended Wayne State University, pursuing studies in Mortuary Science. Although life ultimately led him in another professional direction, the science and dignity of funeral service remained a lifelong interest that fascinated him until his final days. Steven later began what would become a distinguished career with General Motors, serving as a skilled machinist at the Flint Engine Plant. Through thirty years of dedicated service, he earned the respect of coworkers and supervisors alike before retiring. His strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to help others reflected the character that defined every area of his life. To know Steven was to experience genuine warmth. He truly never met a stranger. Whether standing in a grocery store, attending church, sitting on a front porch, or simply passing someone on the street, he had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel like family. His infectious smile, unmistakable laugh, endless conversations, and quick sense of humor brought joy wherever he went. He possessed the rare gift of making people feel seen, valued, and loved. Steven's generosity knew no bounds. He freely gave of his time, his wisdom, his resources, and most importantly, his heart. He found great joy in helping others without expecting anything in return. Friends often became family, and family always knew they could depend on him. His life was a living testimony that the greatest measure of a person is not found in what they accumulate, but in how deeply they love and serve others. Of all his accomplishments, nothing brought Steven greater pride than his family. His love was unwavering, his encouragement constant, and his sacrifices countless. He celebrated every milestone, prayed through every hardship, and treasured every opportunity to spend time with those he loved. He leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted daughter, Stephanie M. Stone, and beloved grandson, Mason S. Harden, both of Dallas, Texas; his cherished stepdaughter, Tanya Conner, and stepson, Carlos (Wendy) Conner, both of Flint, Michigan, whom he loved as his own; his brothers, Robert Stone of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Pastor Michael (Sharon) Stone of Grand Blanc, Michigan, Herbert Stone, Jr. of Flint, Michigan, and Kenneth (Vanessa) Stone of Bloomington, Minnesota; his precious baby sister, Cynthia Gamble and sister-in-law, Cynthia Stone both of Grand Blanc, Michigan; his special niece, Satriena Stone; his favorite cousin and lifelong best friend, Derrick Delano Harris; his special cousin and faithful prayer warrior, Rochelle Bogan; adopted nephew Minister Dorin (Kinita) Nelson Sr., along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family, and countless friends whose lives were forever enriched by knowing him. Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Napoleon and Wilda Newton; Herbert and Vera Stone, Sr.; grandparents Superintendent Theodore and Erma Harris; brothers Donald (Maryland) Stone and William Stone; sister-in-law Deborah Stone; brother-in-law PreZel Gamble; ex-wife Doris Conner, his beloved aunt and uncle, Mother Norma Burrell and Bishop A. G. Burrell; Mother Ethel (Pastor Robert) Garrett; Rosetta Harris; uncles Attorney Theodore Harris, Huey Harris, and Delano Harris; nephew Donald "Hutch" Stone Jr.; his cherished best friend Jarvis Hudson; and his very special friend Reba Johnson. Though Steven's earthly journey has ended, his legacy lives on through every life he touched, every child he encouraged, every friend he embraced, and every family member he loved so completely. His kindness, generosity, unwavering faith, and joyful spirit will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him. Well done, good and faithful servant. A very special and heartfelt expression of gratitude is extended to the St. George Beth-El Church of God in Christ family. Your unwavering love, steadfast prayers, compassionate support, and faithful presence throughout Steven's final days will never be forgotten. Thank you for surrounding our family with the love of Christ and reminding us that we do not grieve alone. May God richly bless each of you for the love you have shown.
