JONES, Mr. Sterling "Bird" - Age 59, passed away at University of Michigan Hospitals in Ann Arbor, MI. Family hour 1:30PM Friday, September 28, 2007 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2PM. Eld. John Phinisee officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30PM Friday. Mr. Jones will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2PM-8PM Thursday. Mr. Sterling "Bird" Jones was born June 30, 1948 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas the son of Edna Wise-Hughes and the late James Jones. Mr. Sterling "Bird" Jones was a resident of Flint since 1953 attending Northern High School. Sterling was a kindhearted person, he never met a stranger. Sterling worked for Buick a division of General Motors were he was a hard worker also helping the elderly around their homes. Sterling "Bird" was well known for riding his bike. Mr. Sterling "Bird" Jones was a very loving father, son, brother uncle and friend, he always had something to give. Mr. Sterling "Bird" Jones leaves to cherish his memory: 5 daughters, Shalonda Coulter, Jessica, Michelle, Tangermeka and Tadra Jones; grandson, Markeetus McCoy; his loving mother whom he loved very, very much, Mrs. Edna Wise-Hughes; 3 sisters, Marion Jones-Rice of Vernon Hills, IL, Debra (Stewart) Evans, Melba L. Stewart both of Flint; 4 brothers, Erwin Wise, Larry "L.J" Jones, Jesse James (Barbara) Jones, Jr. and Sam "Ronnie" (Kensonya) Stewart; mothers of his children, Valarie Coulter, Mary Ann Alexander and Marcella Love; 12 nieces, Tamika Nelson, Shaeniqula Jones, Maria Rice, Tenesha Stewart, Qwanese Evans, Kaleea Stewart, Carolyn Stewart-Hightower, Latrice Keys, Samantha, Mariea, Ronisha Stewart and Tonja White; 17 nephews, Darle (Kim) Jones, Julian Jones, Kelly Blassingame, Antwan and Marques Rice, Jarelle Stewart, Jay'lon Clements, Domonique Evans, Ton and Za'eon Boxley, Cory Hightower, Jr., Antonio Brown, Demtrius Marzette and Antonio Stewart, Kenny and Dominck White; aunt, Bernice (Larry) Davis of Warren; 2 uncles, Roosevelt (Betty) Wise, Jr. of Flint and Otis (Leona) Wise of Windsor, Canada; 5 cousins, Godfrey Ronald Wise, Columbus Steward, Eddie Roy Steward and Ronald Stewart; a host of cousins other relatives and friends. The family would like to express special thanks to the doctors and nurses at University of Michigan Hospital-Ann Arbor, cousin Sharon for being so helpful, Shandra Boyd, Mrs. Hughes church family Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church for their prayers and support, Rev.
