GREGORY, Mr. Stanley Kirk - Age 44, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30AM Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at St. George Bethel C.O.G.I.C., 3801 M.L. King Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Eld. George Kiel officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the church 10:30AM Wednesday. Mr. Gregory will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Tuesday. Mr. Stanley Kirk Gregory ”Greg” was born November 13, 1964 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of Edgar Lee Jones and Beatrice (Henry) Washington. He was a resident of Flint. Stanley attended St. George Bethel C.O.G.I.C. Some people didn’t know his name, but they knew his smile and the respectful attitude, which came along with it. He was his mother’s youngest child. Stanley, affectionately known as “Greg” graduated from Wheatley High School, Class of 1982. He served in the United States National Guard, being Honorably Discharged in 1985. “Greg” attended Jordan College for computer programming and was looking forward to attending Baker College for truck driving. “Stan” enjoyed watching TV, being with his family, shopping and most of all, reading comic books. “Greg” also enjoyed spending time with his companion, Hermiyon. He loved football, with the Pittsburgh Steelers being his favorite team. When the Steelers played, he would put on his Pittsburgh hat, jersey and black jeans to watch the game. “Greg” would always be right about who would win the football/basketball game. He was a hard worker and he loved his job. “Stan” worked for the Burger King Corporation. He would speak of how the manager and his co-workers would commend him on his work. “Stan” was always there on time, and if needed, available for overtime. He believed in having a relationship with God. Stanley was so vibrant that if you knew him, you knew he was a warm and simple individual. Mr. Stanley Kirk Gregory leaves to cherish his memory: son, Brandon Gregory; mother of his son, Cecilia Bowman; companion, Hermiyon “ Myette” Williams; father, Edgar Lee Jones; 11 sisters, Peggy J. Phillips of Flint, Bonnie (Davis) Wilson of Forrest City, AR, Margaret Washington of Detroit, MI, Shawn Washington of TX, Jewellean, Kendra, Cometra, Deloris, Leslie, Marsha and a sister in Atlanta, GA; 10 brothers, Norman (Mary) Gregory, Ted and Sterling (Stephanie) Washington, Shawn, Johnell, JuJuan, Courtney, Mel Edgar, Antonio and Edgar Lee, Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins including special cousin, Larry “Hasan” Guy, Sylvia Swanigan of Flint who looks like his twin and special cousin/niece, Monisa "Mo" Tolbert; aunts, “like a mother” Mildred Swanigan of Flint, Willie Mae Brown of Detroit, MI, Virginia Williams, Sylvia Jones, Berniece Seward of Brinkley, AR and Lisa Jones; aut, Doris Faye Terry; uncle, Michael Jones; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Gregory was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice Marie Washington; uncles, Leroy Terry, Carl and Isaiah Williams. The family would like to express special thanks to St. George Bethel COGIC Family and the Miller Family.
