BARNETT, Mr. Stanley O’Neal - Age 54, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Friday, July 24, 2009 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 1610 W. Pierson Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Pastor James Kennedy officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Friday. Mr. Stanley O. Barnett will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd, and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Thursday. Mr. Stanley O’Neal Barnett was born January 11, 1955 in Laurel, Mississippi, the son of Charles and Bernice Barnett. Stanley was a resident of Flint. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended Galilean Baptist Church, under the Pastorate of the late Rev. Denzel Green. Stanley was a graduate of Flint Northwestern High School, “Class of 1973”. He served in the United States Air Force, enlisting in 1974. His primary Specialty was Aerospace Ground Equipment Repairman. Stanley received an Honorable Discharge in 1976. He returned to Flint and began working for General Motors Corporation at the Fisherbody Turnstead-Flint Coldwater Road division, retiring after 18 years of service and was a member of UAW Local #326. Stanley enjoyed watching sports and was a “Die-hard” Detroit Pistons fan. He was kindhearted, thoughtful, and always remembering to call everyone on birthdays and holidays. Sometimes calling just to say “I Love You”. Stanley often expressed how much he loved his children and would say to his son, Je`Quez “When I get it together, me, you, DaRon and Malachi are going to spend more time together. He leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Tracy Barnett of Louisiana; 3 sons, Da`Ron White, Je`Quez and Malachi Barnett; 4 grandchildren, DaRon White, Jr., DaReon White, Je`Quez Barnett, Jr. and Je`Qualin Barnett, all of Flint; 6 sisters, Jacqueline Walker of San Bernadine, CA, Deborah (Freddie) Jackson, Angela Brooks, all of Saginaw, MI, Toni (Eric) Peterson of Dewitt, MI, Teri Barnett of Flint and Yvonne (Edward) Milton of Troy, MI; 3 brothers, Clifford (Pat) Barnett of Roswell, GA, Russell (Sandra) Barnett of Flint and Dennis (Candence) Barnett of Flushing, MI; sister-in-law, Shirley Barnett of Sandy Spring, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including very special friend, Verlie Cisco and longtime dear friend, Linda White. Mr. Barnett was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bernice Barnett; brother, Clyde Barnett; and brother-in-law, Rosevelt Brooks. The family would like to express special thanks to friends, and family who offered prayers, a helping hand, phone calls, and encouraging words, Pastor James E. Kennedy and the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church family.
