Mrs. Sophia Denean King

KING, Mrs. Sophia Denean - Age 46, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013 at her residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2013 at The Full Gospel Christian Church, 5901 M.L. King Ave. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Dr. James L. Wheeler, Sr. Host Pastor, Eld. Tony King presiding, Pastor Jarvis Richardson officiating. Interment Sunset Hill Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. King will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Sophia Denean King was born on October 29, 1967 in Cleveland, Mississippi, the daughter of Jesse and Dorothy Richardson. Sophia accepted Christ at an early age at True Light Missionary Baptist Church under the late Pastor Marcellus Burkett. She attended Flint Community Schools, participating in JROTC and the Stepping Stones, later graduating from Beecher Adult High School in 1986. Sophia furthered her education by obtaining her license at Edwards School of Cosmetology. She was joined in holy matrimony to Hollie King, Jr., and was employed by General Motors-Lake Orion until her health failed. Sophia later joined the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, and watching judge shows on TV. Mrs. King leaves to cherish in her memory: husband, Hollie King, Jr.; daughter, Nicole Shaunte Rose of Flint; son, Christopher Nicholas King of Ortonville, MI; 3 stepdaughters, Krystal (Christopher) Stewart of Ortonville, MI, Joia King of Raleigh, NC and Angel King of Washington, DC; 3 stepsons, Isaac King of Ortonville, MI, Chappele Brown and Hollie Lamar King both of Pontiac, MI; granddaughter, Charieonna Chante Lynch; grandson, Chauncey Emund Lynch; 7 other grandchildren; parents, Jesse and Dorothy Richardson; 2 sisters, Katherine Rose of Tallahassee, FL., and Jacqueline Faye Richardson of Cleveland, MI; 3 brothers, Jesse Richardson, Jr. of San Diego, CA, Nathan Richardson of Boyle, MS and Jarvis (LaSonya) Richardson of Flint,; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Mrs. King was preceded in death by her paternal father, Leroy Rose; grandparents, Albert and Mertis Walker; uncle Robert C. Walker; sister, Debra Roriex; special cousins, Kim Walker and Faye Miller.
