Mrs. Shirleyan Moss-Berry

MOSS-BERRY, Mrs. Shirleyan - Age 70, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Fenton Health Care, Fenton, MI. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 p.m. Elder John Thornton officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Berry will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday. Mrs. Shirleyan Gail Moss-Berry was born September 24, 1945 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence and Ernestine Moss. She accepted Christ at a young age, being baptized at Woodberry Congregational Church. Shirleyan was the pianist and the organist for the Sunday School department. After graduating from W.O. Boston High School “Class of ‘64” in Lake Charles, LA she moved to Flint, Michigan with Lawrence III. In 1965, Shirleyan married William Cook. She was employed by State Farm Insurance Company as a Customer Service Agent. In 1980, Shirleyan met Jeddie C. Berry, the couple were married on July 4, 1980 under the bright lights of Las Vegas, Nevada. Shirleyan was a member of Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church, under the leadership of Rev. Reuben Russell for several years. She attended Spring Arbor University, receiving her Bachelors. Upon her retirement from State Farm Insurance Company, Shirleyan decided to join Christ Episcopal, where she became a counselor at their Christ Enrichment Center. She enjoyed this position until her illness prevented her from doing so. Mrs. Shirleyan Gail Moss-Berry leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Jeddie C. Berry of Duluth, GA; 5 god-daughters/nieces, Trina (Anthony) Gates, Sr., Tiffany Jennings, Tracie Moss, all of Flint, Tonya Sherrill of Hickory, NC, and Tamara Watson of Jackson, MS; god-son, Gordon Brown of Flint; 5 step-children, Iris (James) Langston of Duluth, GA, Ida Berry, Tonya Barton, Darren and Maurice Berry; several grandchildren including, Keosha Langston and Faith Kiff, both of Flint; sister, Janice (Willie Parker) Wilson of Lake Charles, LA; brother, Lawrence Moss III of Flint; niece, Nichelle Morris of Lake Charles, LA; 2 nephews, Terence Wilson of Honolulu, HI and Damien (Lena) Morris of Lake Charles, LA; cousins, Herbert Piert, Jr., Rev. Morris Lewis, Bobbie Washington, Linda Daniels and Sharon Hudson; sister-in-law, Dorothy Moss; a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Moss-Berry was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Earnestine Moss, Jr.; and sister, Martha Mary Ringo. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Schumacher, Fenton Healthcare Staff, Theresa Hart, Carolyn Garrett, Gwen Weaks, Nurse Nancy, Lisa Welker and all those who assisted in her care.
