WILSON-NEWKIRK, Ms. Shirley Ann - Age 62, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2009 at her residence. Family hour 10:30AM Saturday, February 7, 2009 at El-Bethel Evangelistic Missionary Baptist Church, G-5171 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Pastor Danyiel Griffin, officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Saturday. Ms. Newkirk will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday. Ms. Shirley Ann (Wilson) Newkirk was born May 11, 1946 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Armell and Rosie Wilson. Shirley attended Flint Community Schools including Northern High School. She was employed at Chevrolet Truck and Bus a Division of General Motors, retiring in 1991 and was a member of UAW Local #598. Shirley enjoyed playing cards, dominoes and going to the casino with her family and friends. Ms. Shirley Ann Wilson-Newkirk leaves to cherish her precious memory: devoted daughters, Tonya Stafford, Sabrina (Eddie Hughes) Brown and Doris Mosley, all of Flint; 7 devoted grandchildren, Larry Stafford Jr., Arrionna Mosley, Chaelcie Mosley, Oksana Mosley, Clavontae Brown, Shania Brown, Kya Brown; great-grandson, Larry Stafford III; stepchildren, Malinda Willingham, Cleautry (Francine) Willingham, Rodero (Rita) Willingham, all of Flint; 2 loving brothers, Alvin Shinn of Los Angeles, CA and Donald Wilson; sister-in-law, Doretha Wilson; a host of nieces and nephews including special nieces, Dorthea Wilson, all of Flint, Caroline (Cedric) Akbar of San Francisco, CA, Sharlotte Henry of Midwest City, OK; special great-niece, Chantel Wilson; godchildren, Siena Trouser and Alexis Marshall, all of Flint, MI; a host of other relatives and friends including faithful companion, Tony Ridgeway, special friends, Doris Terry, Linda Sanders, Maxine Burrell, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Morgan, Brenda Woolridge, Eva Davis, Josie Price, Lula Calhoun and the Barker family all of Flint, MI. Ms. Wilson-Newkirk was preceded in death by her parents, Armell & Rosie Wilson; and 2 brothers, Harry D. Fisher & Clarence Fisher.
