Mrs. Shirley Ruth Taylor

TAYLOR, Mrs. Shirley R. - Age 74, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at her residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Friday, February 16, 2024, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM, Pastor Janard Lakes, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Friday. Mrs. Taylor will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Thursday, with family present to receive friends from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM. Mrs. Shirley Ruth (Hardiman) Taylor was born on April 14, 1949 in Holcomb, Mississippi, the daughter of Albert Washington and Rosa V. Hardiman. Shirley graduated from Amanda Elzie High School, “Class of 1968.” She relocated to Flint, Michigan and began a career at General Motors Corporation for 30+ years moving up to management throughout her career, where she later retired. Shirley attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Outside of attending church, she was an active member of the group, “Family of Murdered Children.” She was actively involved in the improvement of the City of Flint by continuously attending Flint City Council Meetings. Shirley enjoyed knowing she had a active hand in the improvement of the city she loved and cared for. Shirley loved to shop, shop and shopping! Outside of her love for shopping was her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, self care and loving on her grandbabies the most! Mrs. Shirley Ruth Taylor leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Christina Taylor and Xaviera McFadden; son, Elax Taylor III; step-daughter, Ruby Taylor; grandchildren, Phiné Hardiman, Searia Savage, both of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Keland Savage of Houston, TX, Trvelle Finney, Sincere Finney, both of Horn Lake, MS, Raina Taylor, Marcus Taylor and Jada Taylor, all of Flint; sister, Dorthy Jean Harbin; 2 brothers, Willie Charles Hardiman and Leroy Hardiman; 8 nieces, Angie Frazier, Leciddier Hardin, Theresa Evans-Whitaker, Pamela G. Brown, Stephanie Plane, Nekedra Griffith and Cecila Vicks; 8 nephews, Larry (Lora) Evans, Tamidge Meeks, Tyron Harbin, Gregory Evans, Corlethus Johnson and Reginald Hardiman; god-daughter, Angela Thorns; best friends, Jeanette Johnson and Diane Young; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Charlene Davis, Gwendolyn Steele, Anthony Wynne, Elizabeth Wynne, Quanda Wynne, Adrinne Wynne, Nikibra Jenkins, Tracy and the Coney family, Cory Taylor, Keo Taylor, Delon Savage, Devon Harbin and Trevonnus Habin. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her children, Linda Hardiman, Ronald Washington, Wanda Taylor and Christopher Taylor; parents, Albert Washington and Rosa V. Hardiman; sisters, Margurite Evans and Evon Hardiman; brother, Fredrick Bryant; nephews, Charlie Hardiman and Keith Harbin.
