MARTIN, Mrs. Shirley Jean "Totsie" - Age 55, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10:30AM Friday, April 3, 2009 from Living Word Ministry, 2001 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Eld. Kirk Whitmore, Sr. officiating, Min. Clarence Whitmore, Sr. presiding. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Friday. Mrs. Martin will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Thursday. Mrs. Shirley Martin, affectionately call “Totsie” by her family, was born May 3, 1953 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Joseph and Valois Jordan. Shirley was a resident of Flint since 1972. She accepted Christ at an early age. Shirley was a member of Living Word Ministry, where she enjoyed praising God, singing in the choir and working as a daycare aide. She was employed as a Home Health Care Aide and Day Care Aide at Joyce’s Day Care. “Totsie” enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, fishing, cooking, sewing, reading and shopping. Mrs. Shirley Jean “Totsie” Martin leaves to cherish her memory: devoted husband of 35 years, Clarence Martin, Jr.; 2 daughters, Telakia Martin, both of Flint and Shannon (Michael) Ewing of Denver, CO; 2 sons, Clarence Martin III of Flint and Telak (Nicole) Martin of Clarksville, TN; 8 grandchildren; special dog, Shasta Marie Martin; 5 sisters, Veronia “Peaches” (Martin) Williams of Mississippi, Sharon “Sockie” McGhee, Judy (David) Blayde, Valois “Ding” Thomas, all of Memphis, TN and Delores Thompson of Detroit, MI; 2 brothers, Eddie “Fieny” (Rosie Marie) Williams of Southfield, MI and Joseph “Boogie” Thompson of Memphis, TN; 15 nieces; 14 nephews; aunt, Georgia Lee LaBarre; uncle, Elliot LaBarre, both of Memphis, TN; sister-in-law, Alma Martin of Washington, D.C.; 2 brothers-in-law, Charles Martin of Flint and Dennis Martin of Washington, D.C.; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Eddie and Rachael Brown and Carolyn Guise. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Valois Jordan. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren Regional Medical Center, Eld.
