Mrs. Shirley Jean Hatten

HATTEN, Mrs. Shirley Jean - Age 68, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 at her residence in Jonesboro, GA. Family hour 10 a.m. Friday, December 4, 2015 at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, G-5283 Clio Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Dr. K.D. Yarber, officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Hatten will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Shirley Jean (Anderson) Hatten was born January 21, 1947 in Lundale, West Virginia as the fifth (5th) child to the union of the late Doriel and Earlene (Sanders) Anderson, Sr. The family moved from West Virginia to Flint, MI in 1953 and Shirley attended Flint Public Schools. She was a former employee of Hurley Medical Center. She retired from the V8 Engine Plant, a division of General Motors. She was a former member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. R.R. Gordon; and later became a member of Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Anvil Henry, Sr. and current Pastor, Rev. Dr. K.D. Yarber. Upon her retirement from General Motors, Shirley relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. There she became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, later attending Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Shirley loved to sing. She sang in the church choir, along with other singing groups, sometimes being the lead vocalist. She was a very caring and loving person who always wore a big smile. She loved her family, loved to cook, and host big family gatherings. Shirley Jean leaves in God’s care her husband, Roy Hatten; children, William (Annette) Anderson, Tonya Anderson, Terrence (Rhonda) Anderson, Domoneka Peterson all of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Paul (Marquis) Anderson, ShirDonya Anderson, T’Asia Stevens, Mondarious Rhodes, Kenya Jackson, Terrence Anderson, Jr., Tyson Anderson, Tiffany Anderson of Georgia, Chesia Anderson of California, Shanaya Anderson, Kiera Anderson, and Tianna DeBouse, of Michigan, along with six great-grandchildren. Her brothers and sisters, Edna M. Lee, Betty (Robert) Poole, Margaret (Ralph) Tedford, Jr. Dorothy Anderson, Annette Anderson, Terry (Karen) Anderson, Cousin/Sister Deborah Milling all of Michigan; Dariel (Gladys) Anderson, Jr. of Mississippi, Henry (Faye) Anderson, Sr. of Texas; Vernise (James) Walker, Willie (Denise) Anderson of California. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including Aunt Thedora Sanders, Ohio and her God-daughter Patricia Robertson. Special friends, Ida Releford and Marva Johnson of Flint, MI. Rev. Dr. Anne Bowles and Rev. Nancy Dadd of Atlanta, GA. Shirley was preceded in death by parents, Deacon Doriel & Earlene (Sanders) Anderson, Sr., two sisters, Alice Anderson and Emmogene Anderson, maternal grandparents, two nieces, one great-niece, 2 nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Also, special friend Dorothea Jackson Anderson.
