Shirley Finney

FINNEY, Mrs. Shirley - Age 66, passed away Friday, September 2, 2005 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 11AM Friday, September 9, 2005 at Foss Avenue Baptist Church, 1159 E. Foss Ave, with funeral service commencing at 11:30AM. Pastor Derrick Aldridge officiating. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11AM Friday. Mrs. Finney will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home,906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Thursday. Ms. Shirley Finney was born December 18, 1938 in Cambridge, Ohio, the daughter of Clyde Robert and Ella Pauline Finney. After moving to Flint at an early age, Ms. Finney accepted Christ at Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church, she later joined Foss Avenue Baptist Church. Ms. Shire' was a Teacher Assistant, at Manley School in the Flint School District, for many years. After leaving the school district, she later became a seamstress at the Hurley Medical Center, until her health began to fail. Shirley was a sister, mother and grandmother to many. She enjoyed family gatherings, playing cards with her friday night card circle and shopping, which was one of her favorite hobbies. Ms. Shirley Finney leaves to cherish her memory: 4 daughters, Arlene (Odie) Grayer, Rosa, Anita, Denita Finney, all of Flint; 2 sons, Clisson J. and Sam (Lisa) Finney, all of Flint; 1 step-daughter, Diana L. Payton of Columbus, OH; 11 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Joan McCloud of Flint, Sara (Sinclair) Nichols of Long Beach, CA; 4 nieces, Felica A. Finney of Houston, TX, Sharon Brown, Yvette and Teresa McCloud, all of Flint; 1 nephew, Jackie McCloud; numerous cousins including very special cousin, Clem (Lucy) Hogan; a host of other relatives and friends including special and dear friend, Jonne' Curry. Ms. Shirley Finney was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Finney; 2 grandchildren, Savion and Sameria Finney; parents, Clyde R. and Ella P. Finney; grandmother, Pricella Hollins; father of her children, Sam William. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Ann Thibodeau, H-Care Nurses; Barb and Bernice, Heartland Hospice Nurse; Vicki, Hurley Medical Center and the Davita Staff, extra special thanks to Kim, Sara and Mr. Scott.
