LEGARDYE, Mrs. Sheila Denise (Creel) - Age 64 of Grand Blanc, MI transitioned unexpectedly from this life on Monday, April 22, 2024 at Cranberry Park of Clio. Family hour 1:30 PM Monday, April 29, 2024, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Pastor Edward Burns, Officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Funeral Home 1:30 PM Monday. Mrs. Legardye will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM Sunday. Mrs. Sheila Creel Legardye was born October 9, 1959 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of the late Rev. Albert E. Creel III and the late Mrs. Trudell Benton-Creel. She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Sheila was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church where Rev. Edward Burns is pastor. She attended Flint Northern High School, class of 1977. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, from University of Michigan - Flint. She retired from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department. On August 20, 1988, Sheila married Gregory Dewayne Legardye, Sr. To this union was born one son who was Sheila’s entire world - Gregory Dewayne Legardye II. If ever Sheila’s love and compassion was on display, it was in the phenomenal care of her special gift from God. Until her son’s death, she was devoted in her love and meticulous in her care for him. Mrs. Sheila D. (Creel) Legardye leaves to cherish her memory: Sisters Deborah Odom of Sterling Heights, MI, Kimberly (Percy) Jones of Shelby Twp., MI, Dr. Joy P. Creel of Detroit, MI and Krystle (Ryan) Thorn of Flint; Brother Albert E Creel IV (Chip) of Flint, MI; Stepmother Edna Creel of Flint; Mother-in-law Olevia Legardye and Sister-in-law Katherine Legardye, both of Doddridge, AR; Nieces Crystal Bingham, Anyla Potvin and Cheyanne Berryman, all of Flint, Shakyra Carter of Sterling Heights, MI and Toi Creel of Toledo, OH; Nephew Albert E. Creel V of Pine Bluff, AR; Aunts Anne Holland of Flint, MI and Phyllis Simpson of District Heights, Maryland; Great Niece Somiya and Great Nephews Samir and Kenzo; A special heart son, who held a special place in her heart Christopher Carter and a host of cousins and friends. Mrs. Legardye was preceded in death by her husband Gregory Legardye, Sr. and son Gregory Legardye II, her parents, Rev. Albert E. Creel III and Trudell Benton-Creel, father-in- law Joe Nathan Legardye, sister Charlotte”Ronnie” Creel Turnbow Williams, brother Brian White, grandparents, one niece, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
