PIPPINS, Mr. Shavaunte' - Age 35, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Maryville Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Family hour 10AM Saturday, May 2, 2009 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Pastor Sandra Johnson officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10AM Saturday. Mr. Pippins will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Friday. Mr. Shavaunte` Pippins was born May 31, 1973 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Wendy Pippins-Simon and Robert Steele, Sr. Shavaunte` was a resident of Phoenix, Arizona. He accepted Christ at an early age. Shavaunte` attended Flint Public Schools and graduated from Northwestern High School “Class of 1991”. His hobbies included many sports, basketball, golfing and fishing. Shavaunte` also enjoyed cooking, writing poetry, drawing and music. He especially loved children and bonded with many. Shavaunte`'s respect for elders gave him and honorable reputation. He was very humorous and enjoyed making people laugh. Shavaunte` was loved by many. He leaves to cherish his memory: 2 daughters, Shanae and Sharae Pippins; son, Jacarri Jones; parents, Wendy (Sam) Pippins-Simon and Robert (Gwen) Steele, Sr.; grandparents, Frank Pippins and Curtis (Vivian) Steele, Sr.; sisters, LaShonte` Pippins, Kawanda Thomas and Tanisha Steele; brother, Robert Steele, Jr.; a host of aunts and uncles including Perry (Marcia) Pippins, Anthony (Debra) Pippins, Philander (Linda) Pippins, Gary (Faye) Pippins and the Steele Family; a host of other relatives and friends including godmothers, JoAnne Wilson and Phyllis Childress and big brother, Niley Rosemond. Mr. Pippins was preceded in death by his sister, Michelle Steele; grandmother, Ella Pippins; great-grandmother, Caldon Rawls; uncle, J.C. Rawls; and cousin, Tiereo Hodo.
