SIMPSON, Mrs. Sharon - Age 72, passed away Monday, February 18, 2008 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10AM Saturday, February 23, 2008 at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Pastor Marvin A. Jennings, Sr., officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Saturday. Mrs. Simpson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 3PM-6PM Friday. Mrs. Sharon Rose (Wilson) Simpson was born on October 21, 1935 in Flint, MI, the daughter of Robert and Ethel (Jeffries) Wilson. She was a product of the Flint Public School system, graduating from Flint Central High School, "Class of 1953". Sharon had a long and accomplished career, she started her nursing career at Hurley Hospital and worked there seven years. Sharon worked as a Nursing Supervisor at Buick, before retiring in 1993. A dedicated christian, Sharon was a former member of Mt. Olive and a longtime member of Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church. She served diligently and faithfully as past leader of the Nursing Ministry, and was a member of the Three Score & More Seniors Ministry. Sharon participated in many community activities, she was President of the Evergreen Estate Neighbor Association until 2007, and active with the Occupational Health Nurses Association. She volunteered on political campaigns and in the Flint Public Schools. Sharon loved to cook and to share with others. She was an avid reader, and loved to travel with her cousin, Wilma Watts, with whom she had a special bond. Her pride and joy were her daughter, grandchildren and her family. Sharon will be most remembered for her generosity and her love. She was most happy doing for others, and will be sorely missed by all. Sharon was married to Percy Simpson (deceased), her husband of 39 years. She was the beloved mother of two children, Adrienne Weiss of Southfield, MI and Bradley Eric Simpson (deceased); four grandchildren, Jourdan and Peyton Weiss of Southfield, MI and Bianca and Brandon Simpson of Memphis, TN; Sharon is survived by sisters, Adrienne (Jerome) Oliver, Bobbie Jean (William) Lyle; brother, Delmas (Audrey) Wilson; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane Downs and William (Dorothy) Simpson, all of Flint; numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, nephew, and many wonderful friends, including her church family. Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Eric Simpson; son, Bradley Eric Simpson; and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Ethel Wilson.
