Mrs. Sharon Louise Payne

PAYNE, Mrs. Sharon Louise - Age 69, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 424 Kennelworth Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Payne will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday. Our dearest Sharon Louise Payne was the last of the nine children born to Willis W. Jackson, Sr. and Louise Catherine Morgan Jackson. She was born on Wednesday, May 17, 1950 and departed this earthly life for her eternal reward on Saturday, May 25, 2019. Sharon attended Clark Elementary, Whittier Jr. High and graduated from Flint Southwestern High School, Class of 1968. Desiring to further her education, she enrolled at Baker Business College. Sharon married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Vernon Thomas Payne in 1969. They celebrated 46 years of holy matrimony before he deceased on September 12, 2015. Sharon was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years and served faithfully in the Missionary Ministry and Sunday School Class #4. She was employed by A.C Spark Plugs/Delphi, a division of General Motors for 31 years and a member of UAW Local #651. Humble, sweet, loving and loyal are but a few of the traits that endeared her to us. She loved spending time with family and friends and could brighten your day with her warm, infectious, welcoming smile. She always had a nice, pleasant disposition and was perfectly content to stay at home for days, the epitome of a true home body. Sharon Louise Payne leaves to treasure her precious memory: sons, Vernon Jr. (Cleopatra) of Jacksonville, FL and Devon of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Taylor Sharon of Columbus, OH and Darhtanion Antony of Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Lillian Houston of Snellville, GA, Margaret Jackson, Maxine Tornes, Dorothy Payton, and Betty Tipper; sisters-in-law, Ella Jackson, Ruth Payne and Gloria Brown, all of Flint; brothers-in-law, Rev. Felix (Eloise) Payne Jr. of Columbia, TN, Anthony Payne of Flint, Johnny (Jean) of Nashville, TN; god-son, Jamaal Brazil of Kansas, MO; dear friends, Evangelist Aileen Spence and JoEllen Adams; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Sharon was preceded in death by her father and mother, Willis W. and Louise C. Jackson; grandmother, Mary J. Morgan; sister, Mary Frances Wilson; brothers, Willis W. Jackson, Jr and Thomas W. Jackson; daughter-in-law, Tara Coble; Father and mother-in-law, Felix Sr. and Dora Payne; sister-in-law, Sarah Jackson; and brother-in-law, William A. Tipper. The family would like to express special thanks to Rev. Jevon Catlett and the Mt. Olive Church Family, Rev. Ronald Wilson, Rev. Sean Payne, the caring neighbors of University Park Estates, family and friends.
