Mrs. Sharon Annette Childress

CHILDRESS, Mrs. Sharon Annette - Age 63, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016 at her residence. Family hour 11:00 AM Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Canaan Baptist Church, 910 E. Gillespie Street, with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM Pastor Charles E. Roots Host Pastor and Rev. Kenneth L. Stewart, eulogist. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Childress will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday. Mrs. Sharon Annette Watkins Childress was born October 28, 1953 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of the Late William Watkins and Barbara Watkins of Flushing, MI. Sharon Graduated in 1973 from Northwestern High School. She loved to cook Sunday meals for her children, grandchildren and family. Sharon also loved to travel and spend time with her grandchildren. Sharon was known to be “The Bank.” She would loan and bless her family and friends financially on several occasions. Being a giver to so many in need and also just being friendly. She loved to shop at Macy’s with her mother Barbara and adored watching her daughter, Tene wear fancy hairdos. She loved to call Alvin Stone who is the boss of bosses. Marcellus, the Lover and William, her baby boy. Mrs. Sharon Childress leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Tene Sanders; 3 sons, Alvin Davis Jr., Marcellus Childress and William Childress; grandchildren, Lawrence Jones, Anthony Watkins, Kiara Wilson, Tyrick Wilson, JaVonta Jones, Dalonta Jones, O’Marris Childress, Tracie Childress, Teriyona Davis, Alizah Davis, Ashari Davis and Marcellus Childress; great-grandchildren, Kayden Holloway and Aubrey Elbert; mother, Barbara Watkins; 2 sisters, Carol Harrison of Grand Blanc, MI and Rev. Cynthia Watkins of Flint; 4 nieces, Shearese Stapleton, Kanisha Howard, Sheena Harrison, Alexus Stribling; 2 nephews, Alec Stribling and Glenn Wilson, Jr.; 6 aunts, Shawneko Earl, Tanya Graves, Sonja Dukes, Vonya Dukes, Sharon Kay Davis and Karen Dukes; 4 uncles, Gary Dukes, Albert Dukes, Michael Dukes and James Smith; many cousins and a host of other relatives and friends including special friend, Roosevelt Tally and special cousin, Denola Garland. Mrs. Childress was preceded in death by: daughter, Tracie Sanders; father, William Watkins; grandparents Rev. Charles and Beulah Watkins, John and Luevinia McIntyre.
