Ms. Shanda Lee Hunt

HUNT, Ms. Shanda Lee - Age 46, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023 at her residence. Family hour 12:00 PM Friday, February 3, 2023, Canaan Baptist Church, 910 E. Gillespie St., with funeral service commencing at 1:00 PM Pastor Charles E. Roots officiating. Interment Gracelawn Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12:00 PM Friday. Ms. Hunt will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 WE. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Ms. Shanda Lee Hunt was born January 21, 1977 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of the late Vicki Hunt and Willie White. Shanda was raised by parents, Mary Borden and James Dowdle. She was a resident of Flint and accepted the Lord at an early age. Shanda graduated from Flint Northwestern High School and was employed at Ground Effects Ltd. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking and learning new recipes, listening to music and enjoying the summertime with her nieces and nephews at the beach. Shanda also enjoyed going to see fireworks, shopping, buying athletic shoes and jewelry. She would light up a room. Shanda loved to collect pictures and making collages, she cherished and embraced memories. Everyone could count on Shanda for assistance with everything, whether if it was lending a helping hand to others, she had a heart of gold. She always spoke her mind and would tell you exactly how she felt. Shanda was a wonderful daughter, friend, auntie, sister and cousin. She always worked and took pride in her job, giving her all in whatever she did in life. Ms. Shanda Lee Hunt leaves to cherish her memory: longtime love, Mr. Anthony “Ace” Love; daughters/nieces, Tierra Martin and Tyria Martin, all of Flint; parents, Willie (Marsha) White and Mary Borden, all of Flint; sisters, Amber Moore, Tyanne (Cedric) Blackmon, Lotricia White, Latrice (Tra’C) Wright, Jamila Waits-Vincent and Gloria Maynie; brother, Jason (Elann) Borden, Michael Smith, Roger Moore and Charles (Yella) Forstner, all of Flint; nieces, Nilah Martin, Geyonia Martin-Williams, Quintesa, Trishanda and Cierra Wesley, Laturnia Davis, Carmencita Smith, Jasmin Ross, Tinka, Danielle and Tanisha; nephews, Drew Martin-Greer, Mike Vincent and Kevin Whitehead; aunts, Cheryl Franklin, Jeanette White and Betty Paylor; uncle, Eddie White; cousins, Gina Franklin Meeking, Dennis (Showanda) White, Jammie Collier, Robert White, Tavare Kirk, Brandon Smith, and TaKeia Collier, all of Flint; sisters-in-law, Monica Hall of New York and Diana Martin of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Erica, Carmen, Kevin, Darlisha, Timika, Harold, Merrill Hood, neighbors in River Village, co-workers at Ground Effects, Ray, Tanay, Bilal (play brother), Dee, Iyona, Vern, James, Terence and too too many more to name, she was deeply loved. Ms. Hunt was preceded in death by her mother, Vicki Hunt; brother, Michael Martin; daddy, James “Budweiser” Dowdle; grandparents, Joyce and Donald Borden, Malissie and Willie White; father-in-law, Henry “Bear” Lyles; aunt, Essie “Cotor” White; and god-parents, Ophelia and Lonnie Waits.
