Mr. Sellous Vickers

VICKERS, Mr. Sellous - Age 82, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at his residence. Family hour 10:30 am Friday, February 23, 2018 at Macedonia, G-5443 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Samuel Berry III, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Friday. Mr. Vickers will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-8:00 PM Thursday. Mr. Sellous Vickers was born February 9, 1936 in Scooba, Mississippi, the son of Sanford and Hattie Pearl Vickers. He moved to Flint, Michigan in 1953, where he remained until the time of his calling. Mr. Vickers retired from General Motors Corporation and Flint Auto Auction. He came to the Lord at an early age and was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Vickers had many hobbies including, fishing, gardening and watching sports. Mr. Sellous Vickers leaves to cherish his memory: 2 daughters, Jamie (Maurice) Simmons and Amber Relerford, all of Flint; 2 sons, Anthony (Rona) Vickers of Adrian, MI and Roger Moore of Flint; step-son, Roberto (Valarie) Bakos; 14 grandchildren, Arcellus, Tanisha (Demetrius) Robertson, Sam (Cherese) Shannon, D’Angelo, Shanay, Jadaya, Lakresha, Alaska, Destiney, Roger Jr., Taja, Amiriyia and Angel; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Ida Veale, Annie Jane Vickers and Racheal Weststrock, all of Flint; brother, Joe Vickers of Grand Blanc, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews, other relatives and friends including special niece, Sylvia Cabell; special nephews, Melvin Vickers and Ivan Hawthorne, all of Flint. Mr. Vickers was preceded in death by his sons, Sellous Vickers Jr. and Wendall Vickers; grandson, Shaquille Vickers; parents, Sanford and Hattie Pearl Vickers; sister, Devonia (John) Lloyd; brothers, Sanford Vickers Jr. and Edward (Jean) Vickers; sister-in-law, Pauline Vickers; and brother-in-law, James Weststrock. The family would like to express special thanks to the Genesee Ave. neighbors that always looked out for him and good friend, Charlie Shannon of Flint.
