Mrs. Secmarica S. Turner

TURNER, Mrs. Secmarica S. - age 61, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012 at New Harvest Baptist Church, 2715 N. Averill Street., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Antwain Roland, officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Turner will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2-8 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Secmarica S. Turner was born February 2, 1951 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Mr. Leroy Murdock and Ms. Pearline McMillian. She has been a resident of the City of Flint for over 56 years. Ms. Turner was a member of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church. She was very devoted with the Lord. Ms. Turner loved to garden, spend time with family and friends and her favorite pastime was decorating. Ms. Turner also was a graduate of Flint Northern High School and she received her CNA Certification from Mott Adult. She worked as a Home Health Nurse for over 30 years. Mrs. Secmarica S. Turner leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved, Mr. Berndal Odom; 2 daughters, Cassandra (Bill) Harris, Latrina Turner; son, DuVarl Murdock; goddaughter, Sheonka Spicer; 3 stepchildren, Rendal, Rodrick and Brandon; 9 grandchildren, Anastasia Murdock, Shay Harris, Shamaree Bates, Autumn Booker, Jaquarius Harris, Jamarion Fricks, Rhianna Johnson, Nyriah Mayes and Kevin Mayes; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends including special sisters, Regina Wortham and Ms. Charlene Obleton, Mrs. Cassandra McFadden, Mrs. Geraldine Wills, Ms. Lorraine Young, Charlene Clark and Ms. Annie Odom. Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her mother, Pearline McMillan; father, Leroy Murdock; other relatives, Lessi Weaver, Ernest McFadden, Jr., and Sheila Obleton (Murdock). The family would like to express special thanks to Genesys Hurley Cancer Insitute and Hurley Center 5 East Neuro ICU; Pastor Autwan Roland, Sr. and the New Harvest Baptist Church also special thanks to Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church.
