MACKLIN, Mother Searcy Lee - Age 99, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, May 7, 2021 at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 4805 Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Rev. Dr. Henry L. Fuller, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday. Mother Macklin will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM -6:00 PM Thursday. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His Saints. Psalm 116:15. Mother Searcy Lee Macklin, Sunrise: March 23, 1922 Sunset: was 99 years later, April 26, 2021. Mother Macklin was born in Biscoe, Arkansas, the daughter of Deacon Willie Ansley and Mattie Davis, the second child of four siblings. She accepted Christ and was Baptized at an early age at the Bethlehem Baptist Church, and attended public school. Mother Macklin met and married Voister Macklin October 7, 1939 and to this union three children was born, Katie, Mattie and Evelyn. The family later relocated to Flint, Michigan in 1944 and Mother Macklin became a Charter Member at the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Easter Sunday, in 1945, under the leadership of the late, Pastor Charles H. Nicks and served faithfully through the years in Home Mission, Ushers, Kitchen Committee, Mothers and Deaconess Ministry and the Great Lakes Baptist District Association Woman’s Auxiliary under the founding Moderator, Rev. Dr. L.W. Pryor. Mother Macklin was employed as a domestic and cook for the Children’s Welfare Home of Genesee County, the F.O.H. (Flint Osteopathic Hospital), retiring after 21 years of service. She loved to sew for her girls, cook for family and friends and gardening. Mother Searcy Lee Macklin leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Evelyn (George) Cleaves, of Flint, Michigan; son, Dudley Mays Jr. of Goodrich, Michigan; 6 grandchildren, Searcy V. Brown, Victor D. Macklin, Earnest T. Macklin, Dedrick A. Watkins, Diondrae Boone all of Flint and Yolanda A. Beene of Dayton, Ohio; twenty great-grand children; 21 great-great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-great-grandchildren. The Bible tells us to multiply and replenish the earth. Sweet memories of Mother Macklin are shared by special great-niece, Stacy and Bobby Edwards of Chicago, Illinois; many other nieces, and nephews including the Johnson family, the Leon family and the friends and neighbors of Edmund Street, who affectionately called her “Granny.” Mother Macklin was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Voister Macklin; 2 daughters, Katie Macklin and Mattie Jean Walton; 2 brothers, Willie James Ansley and Willie Earl Ansley; sister, Oneatha Hill, two grandchildren; brother in-law, Lee Dell Johnson; sister in-law, Macy Leon-Taylor. Along with the above mentioned names, all of her aunts and uncles are waiting with Jesus at the gates to welcome her home.
