Deaconess Sarah Mae Cook Reagor

COOK-REAGOR, Deaconess Sarah - Age 80, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017 in Tampa, Florida. Family hour 9:30 AM Saturday, November 11, 2017 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with homegoing service commencing at 10:00 AM. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 9:30AM Saturday. Deaconess Reagor will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday. Deaconess Sarah Reagor was born August 12, 1937 in Sardis, Alabama to Rev. George and Sarah Cook. She was educated in the public school system in Sardis. After completing some college, she relocated to Abilene, Texas where she would later meet and marry her husband,Deacon James Reagor. She was a devoted wife and was blessed to be the proud mother of five children who loved and cherished her. While in Texas, she served faithfully at New Light Baptist Church as a deaconess, choir member and Sunday School teacher. When the family relocated to Flint, MI in 1972, she continued her service to the Lord at Metropolitan Baptist Church where in addition to being a part of the deaconess board, choir and Sunday School, she was also a part of the Phoebian Missionary Circle. She also served on the bereavement committee, ministering comfort and hope to those in their greatest hour of need. An avid flower and vegetable gardner, she loved to showcase her flowers in the yard and during canning season, graciously shared her vegetable bounty with the neighbors. Her other hobbies included sewing, macrame, and ceramics. Deaconess Reagor leaves to cherish her memory: 2 sons, Tony of Abilene, Texas and Gary (Jocelyn) of Rich Square, North Carolina, 3 daughters, Ave of Tampa, Florida, Anne of Clermont,Florida and Linda (Utah) of Tampa, Florida; 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Hattie Rivers, 1 brother Daniel (Rosa) Cook; sister-in-laws, Jessie Cook and Annie Cook; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including godmother, Cassina Carter, goddaughter, Jessica Smith and many dear friends. Deaconess Reagor was preceded in death by her husband of 50+ years, Deacon James Reagor, her parents, 6 brothers, George, David, Joseph, Paul, Claude, Jeremiah ,2 sisters, Quentien Johnson ,Rachael Wright, and 1 great grandson, Caden Michael Reagor.
