SMITH-ROBBINS, Mrs. Sandra E. - age 67, passed away Friday, September 5, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Bountiful Love Ministries, 3432 W. Pasadena Ave. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Supt. Kevelin B. Jones, Sr. officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Smith-Robbins will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 11 a.m.- 8 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Sandra E. Smith-Robbins was born on March 1, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Alexander and Evalyn Jones. At the age of 7, Sandra’s Family relocated to Flint, Michigan. She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in 1965. She was hired by Fisher Body, a division of General Motors, at the age of 20. She remained a faithful employee at GM for 18 years until the Fisher Body location closed. During this time, she was blessed with one daughter, Deneshia Smith, who she loved dearly. Afterwhich, she became employed at Buick City until she retired in 1997. Sandra was so full of life; she had such a sweet spirit. She was always smiling and willing to help everyone. She was a mother to everyone and definitely had a house that everyone could call home. After retirement, Sandra spent most of her time travelling around the world. She never let grass grow under her feet. She was a devoted Christian and in 2000 joined Rock Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Theodore Jones, Sr. She was an active member of the Trustee Board, Nurses Guild, helped out in the kitchen and Vacation Bible School where the children absolutely adored her, until her health declined. In 2005, she married her longtime friend of forty years Donald Robbins and they shared 5 wonderful years together. In 2010, Sandra became a member of Oman Court #132 Daughters of ISIS. She was also a member of Royal Star Chapter #27 Order of the Eastern Star and Light of Hope Assembly #64 Order of the Golden Circle. Mrs. Sandra Smith-Robbins leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Deneshia Smith of Flint; 2 sisters, Angel (Autrey Thompson) Jones of Columbus, OH and Darlyn “Dolly” Jones of Flint; 2 nieces, Tameka Jones of Fliint and Kimberly Jones-Johnson of Atlanta, GA; 2 nephews, Yul Jones of Flint and Mark (Peggy) Jones of Sterling Heights, MI; uncle, Kenneth Jones of St. Louis, MO; cousin, Ericka (Greg) Hudson of Pontiac, MI, favorite cousin and road dog, Debbie Strickland of Houston, TX ; a host of other relatives and friends including very special friends, Mary Reico, Carla Dent, Ophelia Waits and Twanna Coleman; play sister, Kay Turner; and god-daughter, Jamila Vencent. Mrs. Sandra Smith-Robbins was preceded in death by: her husband, Donald Robbins; parents, Alexander and Evalyn Jones; grandmother, Evalee Jones; brother, Marvin Jones; and cousin, Betty Strickland.
