Mr. Samuel Sanders Jr.

SANDERS, JR., Mr. Samuel - Age 67, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at his residence. Family hour 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Cathedral of Faith C.O.G.I.C., 6031 Dupont St., with funeral service commencing at 12 noon. Eld. Zack Smith, Jr., officiating, Supt. Christopher Martin, Host Pastor. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Wednesday. Mr. Sanders will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Samuel Sanders, Jr. was born July 28, 1945 in Mellwood, Arkansas, the son of Samuel and Roberta Sanders, Sr. He was a resident of Flint, Michigan for almost 50 years. Samuel was employed at General Motors for over 30 years before retiring. Samuel was a member of Deliverance C.O.G.I.C., under the late Elder Zack Smith; as well as a member of the Mason’s Brotherhood. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, reading the bible every day and going to church. Samuel would worship the Lord all day on Christian Network Television. He loved gardening until his illness. Mr. Samuel Sanders, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: wife of 38 years, Judean Sanders; 3 daughters, Evelyn Coulter, LaTasha (Gary) Solomon of Harperwoods, MI and Dashna Sanders; son, Samuel (Denise) Sanders III; 11 grandchildren; sister, Verlee Sanders; 3 brothers, L.C. (Ann) Sanders, Arthur (Carolyn) Sanders and Louis (Myrtle) Sanders; mother-in-law, Everlena Blade; 2 sisters-in-law, Vera Ann Blade and Ollie Blade of Dallas, TX; 3 brothers-in-law, Freddie (Arlean) Blade and John Henry Blade, all of Pineville, LA and Earl (Bobbie) Blade; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by his son, Sammie Sanders; parents, Samuel and Roberta Sanders; 4 brothers, Hosea, Clearthus, J.C. and Edwin Sanders; 3 sisters-in-law, Evon, Fannie and Iola Sanders; 4 nephews, Nathaniel Morris, Roosevelt McDaniel, Hurlee Sanders and L.C. Gamble. The family would like to express special thanks to Cathedral of Faith Church family, Michigan Hospice, Medilodge of Taylor, MI, St. Joseph Hospital, Shaqueal Terry, the Smith family, Darcey Johnson RN and Roberta Flowers.
