Mr. Samuel Lee

LEE, Mr. Samuel - Age 82, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at his residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m.Pastor Byron Moore officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Mr. Lee will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Samuel Lee was born November 25, 1932 in Greensboro, Alabama, the son of Walter and Rebecca Lee. He attended school at Hale County Training School. Samuel met and married the love of his life, Mary Dixon at St. Mary A.M.E. Church. They have been married for 63 wonderful years, to this union 6 children were born. He was a resident of Flint for 49 years. Samuel was employed at Grand Blanc Metal Center, a division of General Motors and was a member of UAW Local #1292. He was a faithful member of Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church until his illness. Mr. Lee loved fishing and gardening. He also loved playing baseball, various sports and barbecuing for family and friends. Mr. Samuel Lee leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Mary Odell Lee; 2 daughters, Jacqueline Lee, both of Flint, MI and Mamie (Roland) Thompson of Moundville, AL; 3 sons, Samuel (Lisa) Lee, Jr. of Grand Blanc, MI, Michael (Terry) Lee of Mt. Morris, MI and Walter Lee of Flint; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Dorothy Ware and Coranell McClanahan; brother, Curtis (Mattie) Lee, all of Flint; a host of nieces and nephews; 3 sisters-in-law, Polly Brown of Ft. Wayne, IN, Jessie Taylor of Jacksonville, FL and Mary Sanders of Marion, AL; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Morris Percy and Benny Hunt. Mr. Lee was preceded in death by 2 children, Demris Lee and Rhonda Kay Lee; 2 grandsons; 4 great-grandsons; parents, Walter and Rebecca Lee. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren-Flint staff, hospice nurses, Pro Med Ambulance Services and RRC Dialysis Service and Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church family.
