Mr. Sammie Lee Moore

MOORE, Mr. Sammie Lee - Age 79, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026 at his residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Tuesday, February 10, 2026 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Interment Detroit Memorial Park, 4280 E. Thirteen Mile Rd., Warren, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Tuesday. Mr. Moore will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed during family hour only. Mr. Sammie Moore was born November 25, 1946, in Shaw, Mississippi, the son of Willie and Nancy Moore. Sammie confessed Jesus Christ at an early age at Oak Grove Church in Shaw, MS. He was educated in the Mississippi School System. Sammie later moved to Michigan and began working construction as a Heavy Equipment Operator, in which he was very proud in his voice, “I did construction for 40 years.” When he entered the room, it was all eyes on him, because he would make you laugh and always had a story to tell. Sammie enjoyed hunting, but his passion was fishing, when it was cold in Michigan, he went to Mississippi to fish. He would say, “can’t nobody beat me fishing,” Sammie also loved singing, playing his guitar and keyboard. He was a great husband and father. Sammie will be truly missed. Mr. Sammie Moore leaves to cherish his memory: wife, LaTonia Moore of Genesee Twp., MI; children, Patsy Moore, Christopher Moore, Denise Moore, Sharren White, Karen Johnson, Nancy Liggins, LaTreesa Wilson, Dejaun Short, Angielo Wilson, Linda (Veron) Hargrove, Samaya Moore, Sammi Moore Jr., Sēmondre Moore, Dieonte Paige, Lonnie Foster and Ronnie Foster; 30 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Pearlie (Bennett) McCullum, Ruby Hemphill, Alberta Moore, Mattie Wilson and Idella Wade; brother, Willie Moore; 2 brothers-in-law, David Davis and Earl Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Moore was preceded by his mother, Nany Moore; father, Willie Moore; sisters, Johnnie Mae Baskin, Mayola McAbee, and Betty Hollaway; brothers, Nathaniel Moore, Terry Moore, Freddy Moore, Tommy Moore and Willie Moore Jr. Acknowledgement The family wishes to thank our relatives and friends for their kind expressions of concern and heartfelt sympathy during our bereavement.
