Mr. Sam Bell Jr.

BELL, Mr. Sam Jr. - Age 86, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at The Landing of Genesee Valley. Funeral service Saturday, November 5, 2022, commencing at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., Pastor Samuel Berry III, officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 11:00 AM Saturday. There will be no public viewing. Mr. Sam Bell, Jr., was born on September 28, 1936 in Columbus, Mississippi, the son of the late Sam Bell, Sr. and Rosetta Weber. Sam was a product of the Columbus Community Schools and Mott Community College. He was employed with Grand Blanc Metal Center, a division of General Motors Corporation as a General Supervisor of Tool and Die where he retired in 1996. At an early age, Sam accepted Christ as his personal savior at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Columbus, MS and upon relocating to Flint, Michigan he united with the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. He was a faithful member and served as a Sunday School Teacher, Progressive Laymen, and Usher Board #2. Sam married his first wife, Clara Lomax and to this union one son was born, Fernandez Carlos. His second marriage was to Jean Anthony and to their marriage one son was born, Samuel Anthony “Tony”. Sam was the Worshipful Master of Flint Unity Lodge #3 F&AM and President of the Local City Joint Council. He enjoyed going to car shows, playing pool, photography, traveling, spending time with family, and studying the Bible. Mr. Sam Bell, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: son, Samuel Anthony Bell; granddaughter, Samiah Jade Bell, both of Flint; 3 brothers, Sam (Valerie) Bell Jr. of Ellenwood, Georgia, Charles Bell of Stone Mountain, Georgia and Kevin Bernard (Kimberly) Bell of Flint; 4 sisters, Essie Mae Harris, Jessie Mae Harris, both of Columbus, Mississippi, Willie Louise (LeRoy) Lever of Grand Blanc, Michigan and Sandra Lee Avery of Burton, Michigan; aunt, Erma Jean Bell of Flushing, Michigan; special niece, Peggy Tiggs, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends including, Leroy Cole and Theodies Hampton. Mr. Bell was preceded in death by his son, Fernandez Bell; parents, Sam Bell Sr. and Rosetta Weber; brother, Joe Elbert Bell; 2 sisters, Charlotte Couty and Irene Hunter. The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Landings of Genesee Valley, especially Charlynn Stewart and Dawn Ulshafer; the Staff at Kindred Hospice: Chaplain Tom Thomas and Beth King, Pastor Samuel Berry III and the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church Family.
