STINSON, Mrs. Sallie Mae - Age 75, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Avalon Hospice. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m. Pastor James Campbell officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 11 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Stinson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1-8 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Sallie Stinson was born August 24, 1935 in Camden, Alabama, the daughter of George and Sallie Albert. Mrs. Stinson graduated from Camden Academy in Camden, Alabama. She was a resident of Flint, Michigan for 57 years. Mrs. Stinson was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where she always volunteered to prepare food for church functions and clean up. She was employed by Flint Osteopathic and retired from Fisher Body-Grand Blanc. Sallie enjoyed gardening, flowers and especially cooking. She was also a loving, caring and compassionate person. Sallie was always ready and willing to help people in her neighborhood, friends and family. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Gloria Stinson; son, Robert Stinson, both of Flint; 4 grandchildren, Dr. Nikia Stinson of Baltimore, MD, Breyea, Danesia and Robbie Stinson; great-grandson, Jayce Stinson, all of Flint; aunt, Katie Manzie of Thomasville, AL; uncle, Richard Gullette of New Orleans, LA; many cousins including three devoted cousins, Barbara (John) Drumgole of Flint, Lula Skinner of Mobile, AL and Jordan Richard (Mary) Skinner of Seattle, WA; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Doris Homer, Lucy Mae Stinson and Estelle Henderson. Mrs. Stinson was preceded in death by her parents, George and Sallie Albert; grandparents, Richard and Louise Gullette; 4 aunts; 4 uncles; and special cousin, Nicole Drumgole. The family would like to express special thanks to Avalon Hospice Staff, Hurley Medical Center Oncology Department, Dr. Badar, Ahmed and Dr. Danish, Guiding Light Baptist Church Staff, friends and family for their support.
