BARR, Mother Sadie Lula - Age 101, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 12:00 PM Friday, July 11, 2025 at Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C., 5802 Fleming Rd., with funeral service commencing at 1:00 PM. Dr. Robert Allen, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12:00 PM Friday, July 11, 2025. Mother Barr will lie in state in the chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Mrs. Sadie Lula Evans-Barr age 101, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025 at Hurley Medical Center. Affectionately known as “Sweet Sadie”, she was born on July 21, 1923 in West Point, Mississippi to Johnie and Alee Evans. Upon losing her mother at the tender age of 9, Sadie grew up under the guidance and care of her Grandmother and Father until moving to Flint in 1947. She worked various jobs including McClaren Regional Medical Center in which she retired after 17 years of dedicated service. Sadie was the definition of timeless beauty and grace. And she always smelled soooo good. She enjoyed being around family and was a fantastic cook, who always made her famous “cha-cha” and “fruit preserves” for her children and grandchildren whom she adored. She gave the one thing that you can’t get back…time. She will truly be missed for her beautiful smile and pure heart. Beloved wife and Mother Sadie Barr leaves to cherish her memory: 2 living children (who both took fantastic care of her), daughter Willie Pearl Bell-Lee of Flint, MI and son, Donnie Bell of Swartz Creek, MI; 11 living grandchildren, Alyse (Stanley) Beard, Donisha (Tyrese) Peterson, Che’ Haralson, Marcus Haralson and J.R. Miller, all of Flint, MI, Gloriatte Evans of Chicago, IL, Tamara Barnes of Miami, FL, Tamika Bell of Atlanta, GA, Sonetta (Brent) Donald-Holiman of Gary, IN, Cyntoiya Cantrell of Charlotte, NC and Crystal (Bryan) Campbell of Grand Rapids, MI; 50 great-grandchildren; 54 great-great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews in which she loved dearly including special niece, Mary Barr and special daughter, Roxanne Bell-Miller. Sadie was preceded in death by husband Wallace Barr; parents, Johnnie and Alee Evans; daughters, Christa Bell-Marks and Virginia McBride; son, Sinnie Bell; granddaughters, Doris Evans and Felicia Haynes; grandson, Amir Bell; great-grandson, Marcus Haralson Jr.; brothers, Ezell Evans Sr, Willie George Evans and John Henry Evans; sisters, Mattie Evans, Betty Evans and Lois Evans-Simpson. The family would like to express special thanks to our relatives and friends for their love, support, kind expressions of concern and heartfelt sympathy during our bereavement.
